Departure pre-announcement

Just for laughs, when this site gets renamed/moved, I will always call it "The Website Formerly Known As S2B"

 

That's cool, from an unofficial standpoint. But you'll never see those words on the actual site or board itself.

 

Now that is a shame the name can't remain the same. I just hope the name doesn't suck as much as when they renamed the Fleet Center in Boston the TDBankNorth Garden.

 

The Sonic 2 Beta Page was something considered in the Tech lounge, so pretty much S2B like it used to be. I don't see a problem with that; keeps things simple and recognizable.

 

Good luck Simon you were a Godo admin for these few years, You will be missed.

Gahd, this means SWCTB will need a new name change when I make more in the future sometime.. wait, I said that?

So when this places moves, do we keep our accounts or will everything start fresh?

Well, this kinda sucks. Just as long as I don't have to reregister and all that jazz when this new forum doohickey goes up...

 

I have no sorrow as seeing you are leaving the community upon other interests. Have a good life. Get something useful done! :P

 

I have yet to decide if I want to start with a fresh installation. I'm considering a two-step transition if I do - phase one would be where I set up the board as we know it now (just running it on the new hosting), and phase two would be when we start fresh (making these forums into read-only archives).

 

I think we should start fresh and make these into read only forums.

 

I would say choose what is easiest.

 

I strongly vote that we keep everything exactly as it is.

 

I'm really sorry to see you go Simon, but everyone leaves sometime. I wish you the best of luck in what's next you.

As for the forums, we should seriously keep shit the same. I don't wanna have a clean sheet and have to reregister.

 

One thing that has to be kept in mind - the forum has been highly customized by Simon, and I'm not sure how easy those modifications will be to maintain. I'm not saying I will absolutely start fresh, just noting that it is a possibility.

 

Well, Hackr offered to convert the board to IPB 2.0 and port over the skin if I remember correctly, so it may not be a bad idea to keep things as is if it can all work out. Besides, a new board is always annoying, especially when you have to switch between boards if you wanna read old topics. :P

A majority of Simon's mods seem to be security fixes and IPB2.0 features ported over to avoid upgrades. Most likely not much would change if we upgraded, as a result.

 

The legendary Wai must post a picture of himself upon departure. So let it be done!

 

I'm not opposed to that idea, actually. That is entirely his call however. Care to please all of your fans one last time, Simon?

 

Meh, I seriously doubt he'll do it.
I mean, the guy chances it with his last name on the interewebs anyway. =P
