I'm sure some of this will end up on the Wiki (in fact, some of it probably already has), in additon to Sonic Retro's frong page... the other one might be cutefluffykittens. I can't give any specifics, but those are the likely places you'd end up seeing it.
Oh, very cool. Will you be putting any of those bibles on eBay later? I may quote you in an article I've been working on for my web site. I'll let you know.
Huh, you don't see this sort of stuff every day. Here's one question though that I don't think's been brought up, if it has, then just ignore me- were you involved in any shape or form with other Sonic projects outside of the games, such as the cartoons, merchandise etc?
oh yeah, I did lots of odd projects, created mock-ups, or suggested promotional items. merchandise: sonic folder sonic bookmark multiple t-shirt designs multiple sticker designs letterman jacket promotional: it could be argued (by me) that the comic in sega visions magazine was based on the comic that I did for a weekly internal newsletter. judging fan art contest copy writer for sears catalog genesis ad - normally a cool accolade but associated with actual copy writers that get paid to do so, not a kid from down the hall that will do it for free. plus it cant be validated or confirmed so is an unaccomplishment. hopefully reinforcing why I spoke up.
http://forums.sonicretro.org/index.php?sho...amp;hl=badvibes hi. We talked a loooong time ago in an email dean
Welcome ,Dean. You stated that you worked for Sega during 1999, which would have puit you there around the time Sonic Adventure was released. Do you know anything about the supposed scrapped level, or the MIA Dragon Boss?
I use to own a Sonic 1 folder, it had black and purple checkers around the edge and sonic in marble zone as the image, "sonic the hedgehog with attitude" or something was written in red across part of it, most awesome folder I ever owned untill it one day got wet and ruind Does anyone remember the 3d board game? the final part was to launch sonic off a spring onto the top platform but it was so hard to do when you were 7.
Dean: Please consider joining us in the irc channel, we would love to chat with you! simply connect to irc.badnik.net and then channel #retro.
I can see dean getting flooded with questions in irc, I don't blame him for taking his time to join the chat
FYI Dean, I did a story on your EBay auction. Is it fair to assume there will be more of these "time capsules" up for auction in due course?
yes. that was the idea. I don't think that anyone that bids/wants/wins the first one will be disappointed. re: global exposure: it was posted for the benefit of you guys here, but im not shy. [] (edit) and... the auction is for the keyboard as proof of its malfunctioning keys.. the comic is a bonus
that was fun. sorry if I missed anything, was a bit distracted. there was a lot going on, that chat was scrolling pretty fast.
A bit of an old and maybe odd question for you Dean, but do you ever remember sonic teleporting differently in Scrap Brain where the tube elevators are? some sprites unused are sonic falling into the distance and a weird stretched ball frame which looks like he get's sucked in different shapes. Also do you remember anything different about the special stages where you find Emeralds, there are also unused orbs which contain numbers 1 to 6 on them, and what seems to be an unused white teleporting flash while running along in a level which makes sonic dissapear for a second.
