I'm glad that thing never saw daylight, the Nomad has terrible battery life anyway.

it was real though - I watched the OJ white bronco slow-speed car chase on it. . hows that for dating myself.

(EDIT) wait a sec - game gear tv tuner ...I forgot exactly. . I don't think nomad existed yet. :o *looks it up* yep.

  3. So from what I understand on what you're saying, Sega (Of America- Japan seems to have a different Pico story based on the 200+ game listings and over 10 years lifespan) never really intended to support the Pico for a long time to begin with. So I guess I'll just take that as the current word on how the Pico was perceived in the US by Sega.

    *jots notes down*

Kinda sad to hear you think the CD Drive was the same idea, though - while the Pico is a bit of a put-off to gamers (which in turn seems to make me a masochist), people view the Sega CD very fondly, with memories of some of it's best games and whatnot. (It probably doesn't help that CD-based systems ended up being the mainstream for the next-gen, as well.)

Not to get off topic, but the SMS version of Castle of Illusion, which is superior IMO to the Genesis version, indeed has a sequel - Land of Illusion. Unlike "world of illusion" on the genesis, and "Legend of illusion" on the SMS, Land of Illusion plays just like Castle of Illusion and is obviously intended to be a sequel.

It's a great game, to boot. I suggest you try it.

a sequel in that it was a mickey game that chronologically followed the previous one. and yes the mickey master system game is better than the infogrammes genesis one. I had to have a knowledge of all games in the library, both sms and genesis at that point.

and Kiddo - I don't speak for sega in any capacity then or now - so.... "I" feel pico was an educational-based system. I tended to enjoy segas various failures, feeling an outcast at that time. also pico came out in 93 ...I left in 92.

the sega cd was great. I was excited about pushing read/write disc technologies and the games that launched - I worked on a sega cd game. was only saying after a certain point it was no longer supported. 3do failed and sonys format emerged victorious, shortly after sega got out of the hardware game.

So, you never got to hear about that sequel to Quackshot I mentioned earlier, I guess?

Sure, I know about it. I even owned the SMS version at some point.

the problem with making a video game version of a board game is that its more "fun" to play the actual board game.

easier to ask forgiveness than permission .. . etc. *thankful*

I dunno. The Genesis/SNES version of Monopoly was pretty sweet.

though it was fun, that was the reference in a way. does anyone really finish a real-world monopoly game? maybe its because I always lose, but half the fun is the socializing which is lost on some video game interpretations. it was the idea of virtually moving virtual objects through non-organic UI as a wack play feature versus moving an actual game piece with your actual fingers. is there a difference between wanting first pick at game tokens so you can get the top hat or scotty dog or can you get the same identification through a system icon thumbnail or 32x32 pixel sprite?

Man, that's awesome. I'd kill to get on that show, only I have no personality and I get the feeling they deliberately avoid casting people with any degree of athletic prowess. What's your gimmick?

It's a real shame that no videogame version of Monopoly has included a "Sneak a 500 whilst the banker's away to the toilet" option.

Given that "Satan" is a real word, I guess you'd pronounce it "Satan".

taht's how I figured it, but you never know. Could always have a funny foreign pronounciation too.
