This might be the closest we'll ever get to a Sonic X Spawn crossover ever again.

I really hope this isn't the only time we see DC and Sonic characters interact, I would love to see the Sonic cast mingle with characters from the wider DCU.

Shadow would definitely be BFFL with John Constantine

Issue #1 was pretty fun! I'm pleasantly surprised, though it's still so surreal to see Sonic kick a parademon in the head.

I do appreciate that there wasn't a contrived reason to have all the heroes fight - they're immediately friends, focused on dealing with Darkseid. I don't really care about if Superman can beat Sonic in a fight - I am interested in Shadow and Batman bonding over loss. I was initially worried, actually, that Shadow was going to be a miserable loner like in the earlier days of IDW, but having it be an opportunity for Batman to talk with him is actually quite earnest and sweet?

There's the impression that the JL are the adults, and a little more emotionally intelligent, and that works for me!

I'm also so, so glad Adam Bryce Howard got to do that art, it looks fantastic! The covers had me worried - no shade on Pablo M Collar, but I don't think he did the Sonic gang justice.

It was fun. The discussion on twitter isn't. Regardless, I think its cool, liked the interactions. Something about how the JL are drawn is a little off to me thogh maybe its just me

I mean, he's a miserable loner most of the time

I'd like to see this crossover animated purely because I'm fascinated when Roger Craig Smith plays multiple roles with a large range, i.e Sonic and Batman.

I haven't read it yet, but I'm glad to hear they didn't have a fight. I'm not a huge DC fan, but let's be real: the JL would wipe the floor with the Sonic cast sans Super Forms.

Sonic is sound-speed, and last I heard Superman and Flash are BOTH light-speed.

The insane power-scaling is honestly why I haven't gotten that into DC heroes or DragonBall.

...and we all know no one wins franchise crossover fights anyways. Everyone's wearing plot armor. Just ends up as a waste of panels.

Just seeing the characters interact and fight together is the best use of page-space, IMHO.

Crossover powerscaling is for dumb nerds anyway. This comic indicates that the Flash and Sonic are pretty much the same speed, I'll just take that at face value because specific powerscaling really won't matter too much for whatever story they end up telling.

Super Sonic and Super Superman will kick Darkseid's teeth in regardless.

Nah it would be really fun to see some fights play out, I feel like people who say it wouldn't are somehow here despite the superpowers and superhuman feats. I get saying it happens all the time in a crossover, but it happens all the time for a reason. Because it's fun to see an interpretation of how different abilities stack up against each other, and it's ALSO fun to get mad when your favorite has some ability you just KNOW would have given an edge that is ignored for the sake of storytelling. If none of that was fun, then Superhero comics would not be a thing because then there's nothing for them to face with their abilities.

Maybe if this was 12 issues we would have seen it happen in some way, but it's 5 so we gotta rush to them having small talk.

+ - honestly might have been more fun seeing the DC characters try to deal with Eggman robots for similar reasons, doesn't seem like Parademons have any diffences between them making it less interesting when the Sonic characters try to take them down

Darkseid is involved so I wouldn't be too surprised if some characters are going to he mind controlled.

I can see it as one way they can clash.

I sort of like how they handled the "power differences."

Like, Knuckles is paired with superman, and no, he can't fly, isn't bulletproof, or have laser vision or any of the other major powers....

However... Knuckles punches one of the DC villains and... you REALLY get a sense of how powerful our red boy is, even if the bad guy claims "lolz didn't feel it." You can sort of tell the DC cast didn't expect Sonic and co to be anywhere near as powerful as they are.

... .. .. And Amy needs an invisible jet... it would make her happy!

This whole premise (or at least this first issue) is very superficial with their reasoning for pairing these guys.

I've seen some criticism of it, like saying batman and shadow teaming up is forced and feels like another "Martha" moment, but I don't think they were aiming for anything too well thought out. It seems like the first issue is just speed running setting up its premise (lol).

What's the bettings he successfully summons the Anti-Life Equation with the Chaos Emeralds and manages to take over the minds of the DC Universe, but they pull a Marvel Infinity Stones and because Sonic and company aren't natives to the DC Universe, they're unaffected?
