Have we gotten word on who the artists behind the issues are going to be? I'm feeling fairly cautious about how they're going to stylistically pair our furry friends with these very real humans, something that IDW hasn't even bothered to do within their own series. Are they going to take the DCAU approach, are we going to have a DC artist bend to the whims of IDW's current output? I'm ✨terrified✨

Not that I heard of, but don't expect anything on model if they don't get someone familiar with drawing Sonic characters.

The results could still be pleasant.

  3. I doubt this will happen, but I wanna see the Sonic cast redesigned like how they did all those HB crossovers a while back. Lemme see realistic mutant Sonic. DSYB1.jpg

Personally, I'd love to see Dan Schoening back at it. Probably an unpopular opinion, but I feel like his stuff was some of the more interesting Archie Sonic work during the Worlds Collide event and it's complimented very well by detailed coloring and shading you'd more often expect from a DC story. Even without it his style could probably end up bridging the gap between the DC characters and the Sonic ones.

So, now it looks like it's going to be about characters from Sonic Universe dressing as DC Universe characters with similar powers. Maybe at some point another kind of crossover will be developed. The one where characters from both Universes actually meet each other.
Sonic meets Zatanna, for example. And form a team-up called Dream Casters (Detective Comics and Dreamcast – that's what I did there).

Sonic has something for this in his wardrobe.

However, at this point they want him to play Flash. Who used a ring to store his uniform. And rings play a big role in Sonic series. And Green Lantern stories. I wonder if rings will be used in this collaboration in some creative way.

Wow that is boring looking cover art. It looks like they just pasted Sonic character into a Justice League picture.

Weirdly reminds me of the art for Sonic Chronicles, specifically how Sonic's eyebrows kinda hang lower

Why do Superman and Flash have such shit-eating grins?

I wish the Flash would sue Sonic for aping his lightning bolts, putting an end to that nonsense.

  10. It’s hilarious how DC decides that their recent evergreen designs or whatever they call them has to have Batman with that dopey round tictac head. I’m no artist but I’m guessing the odd perspective on Flash’s left leg is a huge no-no boy does that look freakish.

As an artist, yeah that perspective on Flash's leg is bad. Although if you look at it the right way you could infer that the leg is stretching out from the pure speed of the downward movement in his run, but honestly it's still not executed that well with that theory in mind.

Yeah, the Sonic characters and DC characters aren't really meshing in that cover art... but Adam Bryce Thomas is doing the actual comic art, so it'll almost certainly be excellent.

I'll probably give the first issue of this crossover a read, but only because of Sonic. I really don't care for modern DC stories. Maybe if they had a cross-over with golden age super heroes I might be more excited. When it comes to super hero comics, I only love the early golden age Superman and Batman comics. As any Sonic fan can probably say, if we see Sonic on the cover, it's an instant buy (or wait for it to go on sale).

I will agree that Sonic characters look really out of place next to the more realistic DC characters. Maybe it they used more simple designs for the Justice League, like the ones from cartoon shows, it would look more in line.
