You may have read an article on TSS the other day highlighting the discovery of new concept art from the development of SatAM. If not, basically what's going on is someone is selling concept art, planning sheets and original animation cells from the three DIC Sonic cartoons (AoSTH, Underground, SatAM) on ebay. This has lead to the uncovering of gems such as this and cataloging them is imperative. They're on sale after all, so they'll disappear after a while.

I've added the sheets found by TSS to the Wiki (There's already a page for the SatAM ones), but there's a lot more out there and it would be a shame if they were lost to private collectors. I'm calling you guys to check ebay regularly for more items like this as they'll only appear once. If you want to take a step further, buy the sheet and scan it so we've got a nice high quality image for the wiki!

In addition, there are even more animation cells from AoSTH than anything else floating around on ebay and I was wondering whether it would be worth cataloging them too, though they're effectively screenshots from the show. What do you think?

I'm not going to post a link to the seller, but rest assured, they're pretty easy to find if you search for "Sonic Animation", as suggested in the TSS article. These documents are one of a kind and offer a unique insight into the development of the old Sonic cartoons. I at least got a good kick out of the designs for Robotnik! :v:

I've just realised this is my last post as a trial member. I thought I'd make it count!

Had no idea about this. Cool to see new SatAM-related stuff come up, although I don't know if I'll be able to snag any of these on eBay. That could change, though.

You know these are old concept art pieces when this design for Bunnie matches the description she was given in the series' bible.

It's probably worth at least saving any screenshots that you can snag from eBay, because if the art gets sold it probably won't come around again in a long time.

There's always been a good stream of AoStH cels on eBay, but I've never seen so much SatAM stuff before.

Hey look, an early version of the logo...

I've purchased the Sonic Underground storyboard for "Who do you think you are?" and looking to get some of the cels perhaps. The storyboard is apparently 240 pages. Is that something you'd be interested in archiving here?

Anything Sonic is worth archiving here.

I see that your member Coz, you could perhaps take it on yourself as your mission to find stuff on ebay. I been trying to fill out the lcd game sections lately with new pics and such. If everyone took on a role instead of depending on others to do it then we could get alot done on this wiki.

I meant to point out that my brother actually has 3 AoStH cels, including one from the infamous "Robotnik in the Shower" segment.

Anyone knows how these things cope with scanners? Last thing I want to do is damage them!

Absolutely. If you have the time to scan in the pages, then by all means go for it. It's good to see some of these things in the hands of Retro users already. Thanks, man!

Yeah, I see what you're saying. I'll have a lot of time on my hands following the next two weeks so that is something I can do.

I'm really not sure about this. I would assume that scanning wouldn't damage them, but it's better to be safe. Hopefully someone here has experience with that kind of thing.

The two storyboards I bought have arrived. Now to get a new scanner and a lot of spare time. Unfortunately they appear to be photocopies of the originals, however they're still fairly high quality and definitely worth scanning.

Nice! Some of those look surprisingly detailed for a storyboard, almost like a comic strip or something.

It's the first time I see a storyboards with art better and expressive than the episode itself.

Oh my god, they should have just colored the pencils and called it a day.

Seriously, I would be angry if I was that storyboard artist. Not only because of the ugly faces, but all the scene composition seems to have been trashed in favor of... random blandness somebody felt like coming up with, instead of following what was already done.

That studio has always been quite bad. Their other cartoons like Kangoo are better forgotten. I've only liked one (S.O.S. Crocos) just because of some chara designs.

I've tried again now and I still can't get past half of that intro.
Wow, they just made their fanchars out of the Taz-Mania gators, wtf.

Kangoo is...ugh, but I admit that enjoyed it when was a pre-teen. I waked up for about 3 weeks at 5 A.m. just to watch it with a terrible portuguese dub made in Miami. =P Yeah, I had problems. SOS Croco they got better at least.

But returning to Sonic Underground, would be a lot easier and with more quality if they used the draws of storyboard to produce the key-frames, resizing each panel in the right layout of sketch sheet, print, and clean up at the light table in the animation sheet. (In 1998, no digital ink back then... Today is thousand of times easier.)
