Hey there Retro! With the season in full swing, I wanted to share a project that my girlfriend and I just finished. It is a video simply titled "Christmas with Sonic". Instead of doing a traditional "Insert Sonic into X Christmas movie" we wanted to go about a more humble approach. The video is not meant to be fully animated, but instead a storyboard style because it is easier to draw. I provide most of the voices while my girlfriend (RianaLD http://rianald.deviantart.com/ known as the one who had the Sonia art in All Stars Racing) illustrated the whole thing. I know it's not completely tied to the games and does include some characters from "Sonic Underground", but I believe that most of you can enjoy it anyway. Please feel free to share your thoughts! Since posting the original there have been 3 other videos in the series with a 5th on the way for 2015. Here's the entire series playlist https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLCTEygVbeLelMVQ1qJls05McHWx2orVvW Happy Holidays!
...I'm surprised. This is actually REALLY well done! A bit of praise/critique: -Sonic living in Station Square... Well, the guy's gotta have settled SOMEwhere, but his mom living there? Is SSquare in Mobius, or is this a comic reference I don't know about? :P -Sonic's dad being a business guy; at first I thought that was a coverup for him being roboticized like in the comics so Blaze doesn't freak out/worry/feel sorry for Sonic or anything, but I guess it was funny to see that Sonic's dad runs around on work more than he himself does :P -Shadow's voice is perfect. The actor and art works exceptionally well for him. MAJOR props there! -Lol Manic being a "dude" who watches South Park/parodies. Nice touch. -Sonia's voice kinda threw me off a bit, but I could deal. I mean, I just didn't see that voice "clicking" with Sonia, but that's just me. -Sonic's attitude is picture perfect for who he is. In fact, everyone's personality is spot on for however they were portrayed. Congrats on that. -More etc. stuff that I don't feel like typing. :P All in all, this was a very good concept and storyboard, and actually feels like something you'd see if Archie Comics, the makers of the old Sonic TV series, the Colors writers, and some new talent banded together to make a Christmas day for Sonic that didn't involve ass kicking. I loved it I'd very much enjoy having permission to do an animation of this, if I could have your permission :D (would take a long time if I ever do so, but hey, it's fun to draw :P)
I whole heartedly agree. This was FANTASTIC to watch. And the comedic scenes with Dr. Robotnik were hilarious!
That was really really funny and well done. Keep it up! This beats out Christmas Blast any day of the week.
I'm flabbergasted. I didn't cringe once! Remarkably well written, decently drawn, voices were competent all around save for the female hedgehogs. And even then, the mother was tolerable, Sonia was appropriately awful and Amy was defenestrated. Manic was my favorite and not at all as cancerous as I was expecting. I can tell that Sonic's gift was where this whole concept began. It was too perfect to be incidental.
I'll be totally honest, I came in to this thinking that I would be unimpressed- storyboards don't usually take my fancy, and especially ones by Sonic fans with Sonia and Manik in them... But THIS was fantastic. Well drawn, well voiced, despite being a storyboard everything was clear, and was easy to see what was going on, well thought out, and the layout of the house and such was cosy even in blue and white. The voices were superb, and the personailites of the characters and the writing was brilliant. I actually felt quite bad for Robotnik, I felt that he's only realy bad because he's lonely, and that came through spectaculary. Thanks for making this. Merry Christmas!
I enjoyed this quite a lot. Kudos to you guys that worked on it. Only things that made me cringe where the Women or high pitch voices, but even then it wasn't terribly bad. I just felt it suited the characters and conveying them. Did a great story that is easy to relate to as well. And Eggmans shenanigans were quite funny. Amazing job!
I honestly expected this to be more bad fan fiction, but this was actually fun to watch. It was well written and drawn and felt like a saturday morning cartoon, which is what Sonic stories should be like IMO.
Echoing the praise here; this is really nice, and well put together. If 2012 were spent animating the thing to a decent enough standard, then we'd have a nice little Christmas present for next year. Highlight for me? Spoiler If my math is correct, which it always is, Sonic's father is obviously a playa. Wouldn't surprise me if Shadow, Amy and whomever else is a borderline official palette-swap all had the same father as Sonic.
Absolutely brilliant. =P Some highlights: Spoiler * Amy's entrance. Classic =P * Rouge licking the Master Emerald. For once Knuckles had a moment of genius (even if I have no idea who Arnie the Echidna is) * Aleena's moment when her happy facade slipped * Shadow the Chef. "DON'T TOUCH THAT" (I see what you did there) * Amy's seduction attempt * "Beeswax? BEESWAX?!" * Sonia's hairdrier Incidentally, is there any chance of the music in this being put up anywhere? I really like the re-done AoStH Robotnik themes.
