That animation is fucking brilliant, really neat touches you guys added to the extra frames. Sonic has never looked better in motion.

    ...I know the go-compare dude's brother :specialed:
I know it would be a nightmare to change, but just throwing this out there, I don't like the lack of Sonic's cheeky grin - he looks miserable now :(
IMO, his grin was one of the characteristics that made Sonic, well... Sonic!
Other than that, the progress is superb

When looking at this, I have to say... Sonic's posture looks incredibly weird. His peach skin part on his stomach is curving down indicating that it's round and coming full circle. However, with the current angle, it looks like his body is shifted 45 degrees while his legs, arms and head aren't.

...Oh god, I'm becoming... one of them. :ohdear:

Good point. That's one little tweak I wouldn't mind happening. I don't think it would be that much work. It's pretty much just a little line.

But anyway, perhaps he could be shown smiling when he's gotten more than 100 rings, to show that he's feeling more confident or something. =P

Something I've just noticed is how his nearest ear doesn't seem to move forward and backwards with the head. It seems to flow nicely in the other versions, though, including the sketch.

Admittedly, at the speeds he's traveling at most of the time, it will go unnoticed for most people but I reckon Sonic's attitude is the most important thing to express with the new sprite set.

He stays in the center of the screen for almost all the time, no matter the speed he's travelling at...

That's a good catch, and easily fixed.

Nice. What I have to say is his nearest arm seems to become uncomfortably, and needlessly high an angle, when he moves his arm backwards.

Dunno how bad I think this looks, but it bugs me.

The ear was clearly a mistake. When it comes down to preferential things, we made him look the way we did for a reason, and won't be changing him unless there's another glaring error.

So the smile (or lack of a smile) is here to stay in this case? I just think Sonic, being the chilled-out guy he is shouldn't look so serious and should look like he's enjoying himself...

I got bored again, so I made a screensaver:

    Big: http://img602.imageshack.us/img602/9789/screensav.png

Basically Sonics fall onto the screen and walk away (with ACTUAL physics). They walk on the logo too. If only I had the jump animation. :v:

    Is this too off-topic?

Is this intentionally a standard PNG, or supposed to be an APNG?

Standard (it's a screenshot). APNGs are great but they annoy me.

In that case could you post or pm the actual screensaver? Sounds funky :)

Now that you mention it, I do notice his stomach looking a little odd, as though it's angled too much towards the viewer.

I suppose there are always issues inherent in this style of art, in which the character is angled slightly towards the viewer (since showing them directly sideways would create issues of its own), but maybe this takes that a bit too far. :P

I don't see it. Well, I do, but I really think it's very, very minor, like my arm complaint.

Also, I uploaded the screensaver. It's now more epic than I said:

I like the sprite, even the belly angle. Sonic's leaning a bit forward. I wouldn't say it's anywhere near 45 degrees, he just has a slight bias towards moving forward ;P

There are plenty of super serious video game characters out there. I'd love to see this one at least with a smile :). I think the belly is just a typical cartoon style exaggeration/artistic license.

How do you install it properly? I tried installing it, but my computer can't seem to read it (I'm using Windows Vista Premium, btw).
