Oh wow, awesome. Have any modders had this kind of success with the PC versions of NiGHTS into Dreams and Jet Set Radio?
Those can't be modded or are much harder to mod to make them 60fps due to the way the engine works. NIGHTS and JSR only play at 100% speed at 30fps, whil Castle of Illusion plays at 100% speed at any framerate.
Large bump, but Castle of Illusion is free for PS+ members now, and there's also a bundle going on that gives you a Dynamic Theme and the original Genesis game with an emulator by M2.
Castle of Illusion SMS > Land of Illusion > Quackshot > Castle of Illusion Genesis > Castle of Illusion remake > World of Illusion > Legend of Illusion Not terrible by any stretch (it's actually really good) but no where near the best in the series.
While it's neat to go through with a friend, specifically for how the level design changes, it is the easiest of the bunch. Not a whole lot of challenge in that game, and the actual mechanics aren't as engaging. I much prefer the butt-bouncing jumping puzzles in Castle of Illusion Genesis to using my magic cape on streams of enemies in World of Illusion. I feel Castle has a much better difficulty ramp - by the end of the game, it's pretty challenging, while World of Illusion stays pretty consistently simple throughout. Neither compares to the first two SMS titles, though, which are head and shoulders the best in the series. I probably think Castle of Illusion SMS is better than Land of Illusion because I played Castle first, but a number of people agree that those two are the best in the series.
It's hard to go wrong with free, though. If you've got a PS+ subscription, absolutely make sure to pick it up while it's available. Worst case scenario, you hate it, but you've spent no more than you were spending on the PS+ subscription anyway.
