I actually had a thought about this. Ducktales remastered was basically exact to the NES version, but they added cutscenes and the like which messed up the pacing and put some people off. Meanwhile, Castle of illusion is different from the original game, but the cutscenes don't really intrude, and the narration just plays over you while you play, so the flow isn't broken up as much.
Australia is also in large part responsible for the travesty that's The Bureau. Just throwing it out there.
https://twitter.com/SEGA/status/370977691069341696 Europe to get the PSN preorder bonuses too; preorders there start 27 August
Hello sudden Steam store page for the game Can't preorder it, but it comes out pretty soon anyways, so atleast that's there. Also, preordering the game on PSN got me three icons and a bunch of stuff I need to download later, but basically one icon confirms that one of the costumes you unlock will probably be Mickey Mouse wearing a knight's uniform.
Right now the Steam version is missing most, if not all of the game's files. Only the Common Redist folder is downloaded. Sega (and by Sega I mean ) knows about it and sent a note out to the guys handling it.
So reviews are popping up for this game and they're, uhh.... kind of all over the place. One review complains about "terrible input lag, imprecise movement and spotty collision detection", but I haven't seen anyone mention about any of those things in any other reviews. Most seem to be focused on a sloppy difficulty curve and floaty physics. Non-professional reviews seem to be eating this game up, though. If nothing else, it's almost certainly worth a try, especially at only $15.
Is it locked to 30 FPS or it's the refresh rates screwing up? My monitor says it's using a 60 HZ mode.
Finished it, it's pretty short but sweet. If I had to compare it to the Ducktales remake: Ducktales = better gameplay Castle of Illusion = better presentation Not that the gameplay in Castle of Illusion is bad, it's good. Ducktales is just a bit better in that aspect IMO.
Caved in and got this, and I have to say 30fps frustrates me way more than it should, just from the sheer fact of all the apologist subhumans saying 'it's fine l2p' and essentially shitting up the industry for everyone else with their awful standards because why take advantage of horsepower on a platform that can afford it.
240p (60 fps) / 480i (30 fps), just a thought maybe it's hardcoded for the later suitation because they both use the same amount of bandwidth? Console side of things. On the other hand, don't expect a kid's game (primary target) to use an insane amount of graphics processing power, otherwise you have issues like needing a super computer to run it at all. PC / MAC / LINUX side of things. As parents don't want to shell out a couple of grand on a computer just to run one game regardless if it's built from good parts or a shitty OEM pre-built model. You can ask me how things went when Half-Life 2 came out (not a kid's game, but still was old enough to play but dependent on my parent's income, not fun had to wait 10 years to get a system that could even run it on low settings). Just either way you put it on the console side of things there is always lazy programmers. On the PC side of things it's always needing a super computer or go with the lowest common dominater.
PRAISE ALLAH edit grats missing the point. pls go edit2 oh boy oh boy oh boy http://www.mediafire.com/?6j47b9tzsanv7ul Pardon the skipped frames here and there; in the middle of a couple of projects I can't exactly close so it's sitting in the background eating resources :C
