The new music sounds so... forgettable. Now I understand why that other guy had the soundtrack set to "Classic".

  2. apart from the reconisable songs, the rest is pretty bland.

Looks like it's classic soundtrack for me, unless they show some really good songs for the later levels.

This looks fantastic, I don't recall ever playing this game, though I did play that Mickey and Donald one back in like 1997 at a classmate's birthday party. This looks like a great bit of platforming, and with this and Duck Tales (which is actually turning out to look pretty good I'll admit) around the corner, I'm feeling quite nostalgic and I can see more 90's platform revivals around the corner.

I don't think this has been posted. It's gameplay of the Toy stage, but the new music can be heard. It seems better than the Enchanted Forest music.

Hopefully Steam pre-orders get the original game too.

  8. If the preorder bonuses on PSN were for Europe aswell then I'd preorder this game right away, but now I'll just wait and see if steam gets any good bonuses.

I could've sworn there was going to be a Wii U version of this.

Oh well, I guess Steam'd be the better option anyway...

It was rated for Wii U and Vita, I'm guessing those versions were cancelled.

Or hopefully that they were just put on the backburner. It'd be a real shame if this didn't ever come to Wii U.

The developer is shutting down later this year, so that doesn't look likely.

Well, that's sad. If they were able to make this game, they were probably pretty decent developers. Also, it's been confirmed this game is stupidly not getting a Wii U release. [LINK]

SEGA being dumb as shit as per usual. This is getting a Steam release, right? I'll probably just get it there at some point.

I wouldn't say closing the studio is a dumb move. The studio is in Australia, so communication probably isn't that great. It sucks, but it's probably better for Sega to have studios that are closer by. At least they're going out with Castle of Illusion instead of Stormrise.

Of course, hopefully the developers can all get jobs. At least they'll have a (hopefully) good game on their portfolio besides Total War: Medieval II.

Yeah, I heard they were having problems with their carrier pigeons.

I'd say the issue would be more along the lines of studio operating costs. We've had many studios in Australia close down including Team Bondi, Pandemic, Krome, Blue Tongue etc. Basically, aside from the flourishing indie / mobile scene, it seems very hard to keep studios aiming at AAA console open in Australia (Yes, Castle of Illusion is a downloadable title, but Sega Studios Australia was pretty much working solely on boxed titles before then).

It's mostly because there aren't any tax incentives for game developers (not in New South Wales, at least, I think there might be in Queensland or Victoria), and AAA devs in Australia have mostly been running into problems. Krome hasn't actually shut down (they're developing a 2D Ty game) though they took some nasty missteps with their recent development history, but Team Bondi was probably the most notable closure, though that's mostly due to the head of the studio being an arrogant fuckwad during the development of LA Noire, forcing Rockstar to actually step in and get involved in order to get the game done.

It's a bit of a shame, but I'm not terribly keen on getting involved in a 'AAA' studio myself, anyway. The AAA industry in general is headed towards a potential crash, and I don't want to be on that train when things go south, plus I'd rather get involved in more focused efforts with more sustainable business models that actually encourage new ideas.

Am I reading into this too closely, Tax, or are you Australian? :v:

So with the their being apparent difficulty, how long until reviewers whine that it isn't "modernized" enough? Duck Tales didn't go over so well, but that was more of a 1:1 remake than this was.
