Burning Rangers maps?

Discussion in 'General Sega Discussion' started by PsuitablePseudonym, May 23, 2012.

  1. I've been playing good ol' BR on and off since 2004, and I've always felt lost. Don't get me wrong—I love that feeling—but it makes Burning Rangers a hard game to study. It's a combination of huge levels and randomly generated maps. To be honest, I couldn't tell you what parts of the stages are randomly generated, but that's always something people say about Burning Rangers.

Anyway. This game would be a lot easier to study if there were maps, but I haven't been able to find any. Are there any maps for this game available online?

I've seen Japanese guidebooks on eBay that have maps, but I'd rather not shell out the cash for it, especially since I can't read Japanese and therefore wouldn't understand any of the notes associated with the maps.

Here's a thought. If I did end up buying the book and I managed to get all of it scanned, would anyone be interested in translating it? I'm not making any promises here, but it's a neat thought.

Also, a bonus question. Does anyone else get a Burning Rangers vibe from Gunvalkyrie? I know they're totally different developers, but the super sentai rocket pack thing really gets me. Plus, they control kind of similarly in the air, to the extent that in both games you can perform infinite boosts in any lateral direction you want. Of course, Gunvalkyrie has a lot more freedom in its movement in the end.

The maps are not really randomly generated. The doors are randomly opened or closed though, and switches can be placed in a variety of locations, so you'll have to find a different path each time you play (parts of the levels are sometimes not at all accessible, too).
