It can be safely assumed that the folder location is too long.
I'd put it closer to C:/ or whatever harddrive you're using.

Actually, the problem appears to be that you haven't split a clean Soinc 1 to get the data assets out. Just drag a clean Sonic 1 ROM as s1.bin (if that's not already done) and run split.bat.

Also, try removing spaces from folder names and making them eight or fewer characters long. Sometimes DOS can be very picky about file/folder names.

But it looks like it's as Andlabs said; there's no data to build, because you haven't split the ROM yet.

Does anyone know how to use a program called Graphics Gale? I have no clue what so ever on how to use it properly. Reason why I'm asking is because I want to learn how to make proper walk cycles with the program, and it's the only one I know of that can do that.

You don't really need Graphics Gale to do walk cycles, but it does make the process a lot easier.

I suggest reading the help files as they give you pretty much the basics of what you need to know about doing basic animations such as setting up frames, layers and onion skins.

It's just that I've seen things done with graphics gale that involved animation work, and I want to do a better job at that, knowing how horrible I am at sprite animation.

Yeah, Graphics Gale certainly makes the work much much easier. Like I said, open up the help files. They give you a pretty clear run down of how it works. Onion Skins will help you a lot when animating.

I downloaded the file "Sega Logo.bin" from "https://www.sonicretro.org/asm_svn/Sonic%201%20Disassembly/tilemaps/" and tried to change it, but every tool that I used just shows black... What's wrong with it?

Quoth the Multivac: Insufficient data for meaningful answer.

What "tools" did you use? Did you set the palette correctly?

Tile Layer Pro and something that I found via google (I have allready deleted it, so I don't know what it was)
Is there maybe a how-to for this?

And did you use the correct graphics mode in Tile Layer Pro?

If you require the palette, you can find Sonic 1 palettes in Tile Layer Pro's expected format on Hivebrain's site.

Is the limit to the tile/mapping sprite number in Sonic 1 $7F, or is there an alternate way to add more sprites and animations?

The solution is a bit lengthy, so I put it on the wiki.

It's odd, I tried adding a frame number $80 and above and the game doesn't activate the animation.

There's a fixed version of TLP to work properly with .bin files...

    Here.

    If it's not that, sorry, I don't know :l
