This isn't Shining Force CD. The cutscenes aren't animated so there is no need for such a thing. Well actually they are but not to where the VAs for them need to be put into PCM. I'm not Tweaker. (no offense Tweaker. You are who you are and that's what makes you, you.) I'm not going to fucking kill people for tampering with the MP3s that come with this hack. (if it ever makes it into Sega CD territory anyways.) I don't want to put them in PCM because I feel people have a right to switch out the music (and VAs for that matter.) if they don't like them or get bored of hearing them. I can't 100% guarantee quality in the voice acting, so I'm leaving them open. This is how I'm doing it and you aren't going to change my mind. Voice overs used for the sound effects during gameplay are kind of required to be PCM though. Really, do I honestly need anything more for this?: Note: I know that's a fake screenshot but that's what a typical Cutscene in BKIII looks like. I don't need it in PCM.
Honestly, I like the Donovan-based motorbike level. But I hate the Wasteland's level. That level seems to be so sadly tiring and long. Also, this is very repetitious.
Great to see some edited/beta footage from streets of rage again, seems like a ton of stuff is hidden and unused in those games.
Well, it's not actually beta footage but it IS a hack made that shows what the levels might have been like.
*not yelling at Digital Duck or anyone else* THAT IS IT! I HAVE HAD IT WITH THIS MOTHERFUCKING INTERNET CONNECTION! When someone gets the time, do me a favor and download these two files in the above quote and upload them onto a private server for me please. Thanks. I might be able to resume my downloads for once then.
That's really incredible to see those levels finally playable and the idea of running those on an extended SEGA Mega-CD version is something I'd love! I wish you the best of luck, I'll be looking forward it! P.s. Restoring Shiva's fire kick will be amazing.
Of course he's going to be in it. Why would I take him out, he's the most powerful character in the game. (even stronger than Shiva due to how his punches combo. Also, he's not a Negro. He's a muscley white guy with a tan and a beard.
LATEST BUILD RELEASE Well, this double post technically is legal since it is for the purpose of updates. Well I wasn't aware my hacking partner was so far along. I've been very busy and haven't had the time to help with the hack in recent weeks. (or was it months?) Turns out he's fixed the hard coding that made reassembling the rom difficult. The new font and health meter designs are actually because this build of the hack is based on the awful Chinese hack of BKIII that translates the game to Chinese, rapes your ears even worse than the retail version of BKIII, and replaces SOME of Axel's sprites with Terry Bogards. The Rom however is very messed up and unstable sometimes. However, it has some custom code for characters in it that was fucking brilliant. As a result, Shiva now has attacks that only his boss version would know. The unused animation script for his spinning fire kick is actually in the Retail rom unused. This build of the hack uses the character code from the bogard hack but has also repaired all the damages the lazy chinese pirates did when they made the bogard hack, and he has removed all traces of Terry Bogard. So anyways, enjoy many things among Shiva's new moves in this latest build. The game runs as it would normally with a retail BKIII. No changes at all beyond the ones listed as following and the presence of the said meters mentioned previously. Also, there was a little dispute about the Japanese voices being replaced with the US which is resolved now and has the JP voices like it is supposed to. http://www.mediafire.com/?mzdlmm0zmel] I know it says V3 but it's more like version 1.3 or 1.4. I'm not really sure what number we're on. New updates: 1. Round 6 Secret Elevator locations are available for play by normal means. However, it is pointless in this build because the hex value that controls where the player warps to after rescuing the general was left unchanged and thus sends you to the fight with Jet instead of the corridor starting corridor in version 1.0. I'd fix this but unfortunately the hard coding issue has been resolved which means that when the ROM was recompiled and everything in the ROM has been shifted around. This means that the offsets shown a couple of pages back are useless since the data is at entirely new offsets. Each new build will have the data shifted to somewhere else in the rom each time. 2. Bike stages are available for the four regular characters and they work completely. (though that little problem where the player starts the stages with almost no health is still there for some reason or another.) The secret characters skip the bike stages and are automatically redirected to scene 2 of the corresponding version of round 7 they are on. This is undetermined as a temporary or permanent solution as of yet. While Shiva and Victy could easily get away with using their dash animations without the bike parts on them, Ash just would look weird running as fast as a vehicle. 3. Shiva has an actually somewhat visually impressive blitz attack now. It misses a lot because of the progressive movement forward it does but it looks like it fits quite well. It's not very damaging though. In fact it's pretty weak. I think it's somewhat based on the attack the boss version of Shiva in Round 7B uses that involves him launching himself into the air. Shiva now has the Electricution animation that was given to him in SOR 3 by SOA. This was planned by both me and Red Crimson since we are trying to give him a complete moveset. The graphics are a bit garbled for the electricution animation though and hopefully will be fixed later. 4. The word SMILEY on one of the buildings in at the start of Round 2-1 now says CRIMSON. I'm going to let Red Crimson keep this change since it's only fair to let him have some things in there. We got our JP voices back so the least we could do is let this one slide. Besides, it doesn't hinder game play at all. Known Bugs - Shiva's new electricution animation is garbled in some places. - Axel's Front grab +B headbutt animation has one frame with garbled graphics. -Round 4-2 is completely garbled and gets stuck for a few seconds every now and then but is completable. Your character is ungarbled but the ninjas are walking blocks of pixels. -Also in round 4, a few of Yamato's sprites are messed up. Namely the sprites for when he is thrown and when he disappears after being defeated the first and second time. -some of the Katanas in Round 7-2 A act weird when dropped. -Neo X is partially a reddish orange color for some reason. -Some of the news reporter silhouettes in the Round 7B boss battle appear garbled at times. Other nifty features: -Using the code to make Victy playable without beating him in the game now also unlocks Shiva and Ash on the Character select menu. Both of which use portraits. (Ash has a custom made one that was made by a guy from bombergames a while back and no permission was need to use it. It actually looks like it belongs in the game too.) - The said portraits for Shiva and Ash are also now used on the score tally screen. Since Stealth is not going to cough up the Genesis Rom to Sega CD ISO Code he used for Megamix, I'm going to have to do the research myself. Oh well, I haven't been very useful in this project for quite a while other than being a project coordinator and the guy who listens to other people to help brain storm additional ideas.
I'm interested in doing some voice acting, but I've barely ever played any SOR, so I'll have to do some research on which character I could do first. :P
It's wonderful that you do ThunderPX. However, keep in mind that the voice acting idea isn't official yet. Yeah sure I got a few recordings here and there but I still need more input on the matter. There is for certain going to be voice acting going on in the cut scenes but as for the voice bytes used in game, it is still undetermined. Video demonstration of the latest build that was made by Red Crimson: As you can see, Ash has a portrait. It is not from the game, it was custom made. Looks sort of convincing doesn't it?
Heh, I didn't even realise that was custom-made. It looks a bit odd having seven characters clutter up the top area... could you not make it two lines, with Axel, Blaze, Sammy and Zan on the top line, and Victy, Shiva, Ash, (and Adam) on the bottom? It would make things a bit tidier. Also, are you really going to have Victy, Shiva, and Ash fight themselves? I'm pretty sure they don't ALL have robot clones.
They do it in the retail version of the game, so why not have them fight each other? Actually, all three of them are only visible on the character select if you unlock them or press B + Up on controller 1 at the title screen. In the retail version, only Victy is visible via this code. Also, check out the playable version of Shiva's new moves.
A question... Why would anyone hack some awful hack of a game? It seems utterly pointless. Red Crimson would be much better off starting from the clean Japanese ROM, or possibly the Twilight Translations version.
It had some special character code that was used to implement some of the features. Stop questioning this hack. It's a lot better than the god awful hack. He completely restored everything aside from the Chinese text and the meters that the fucktards responsible for the atrocious hack made.
Yes, but once you've unlocked them, they appear on that screen, don't they? It's just a suggestion, anyway. Also, will Shiva and Ash be able to be unlocked normally through gameplay, rather than just through codes? Rather than "Hold B after defeating Shiva", could it not be "Defeat Shiva" or "Defeat Shiva without taking damage" or something similar? I just don't like the idea of characters that can only be used by using cheats. EDIT: Added quote.
That's... not what I asked at all. In the original, to unlock Shiva and Ash, you HAVE to use the button cheats. Is there any chance you (or RC) could make it so these can be unlocked normally, WITHOUT button cheats?
