Has anyone thought about selling DVD copies of the complete archive Megadrive/32x/SEGACD archive? It would be illegal, or at least unethical to make a profit, but I don't see why they couldn't be sold for the exact price of media and shipping. I know I'd like an "official" copy of it, perhaps with some nice cover art

If you're talking about the original discs that drx has, there's information that would be traceable to the person who he got it from, so you'll never see that. I've even been trying like hell to get him to give me and me only a copy (because I'm fucking awesome), and he won't budge. If any such discs are released, they'll definitely be modified to remove such information.
I think he means a new DVD with all the stuff ready to run. DRX's disc contains the encoded stuff, and to use it you would need to do all the cracking he's doing right now :P
Probably because there is auctual mail on that disc with logs of chat and everything and you wouldn't like it if your conversations were released onto the internet. DRX said that on IRC a couple of days ago.
More to the point, I think Sega tolerates what we do because we're not making money off their code. Selling it, however, would be another story.
Also, I guess I should have clarified this, but since it didn't really cross my mind—I'm only looking for mirrors that plan to be up within a few hours of the torrent release. Long tail theory says this site will be fine by Sunday evening.
My idea was to set up a region list on the board/500 page, and then round robin a prototypes.sonicretro.org domain.
Bah, fuck you guys if you want to cut me out of this, I don't care. I'm going to mirror anyway as soon as I manage to put my hands on the protos (given that I actually manage to do that, which seems unlikely if I understand correctly how things are going on).
Just wondering is it ALL the protos or just the Sonic protos? I can upload all of them but I'd rather focus on uploading the Sonic proto's first.
I have problems with torrent clients for some reasons I won't explain here. You know what? I wish those protos were still in that guy's hands, and now I also wish I didn't donate my money for them (¹), seeing how things are going. For Tweaker / Scarred Sun / whoever with an orange name: please remove my Tech and Sysop priviledges and lock/ban/whatever my account. I'm done with Sonic Retro. This time for real. Thanks. (¹) no I'm not asking for a refund in case you were wondering
