So I guess that confirmed that characters are supposed to have blob feet now huh?
Well it is supposed to be closer to the games, and those characters had those feet.
Please support your blob-feeted Echidnas today.
Oh wow, that off panel was EXCELLENT.
Not to change the subject, but has SSSM#10 come to physical print, yet? Or, should I break down and just buy it digitally?
Curse my completion-obsession...
As for blob feet, I prefer the cartoony paw type of toes, but whatever. As long as the art stays consistent in quality as it mostly has for the past few years, I don't care about something so minimal.
Should be. It was supposed to be in print a month ago according to its shop release date, so even with the winter delays it's probably out by now.
Also, preview pages for 257:
I forgot that Tikal pretty much set the ground for that.
The artwork in Sonic #257 is both horrible and strikingly accurate at the same time.
It bothers me greatly.
Take it up with Evan Stanley, I can tell thats a dead giveaway to her work. it looks like she pretty much did the whole issue while Terry Austin was just doing backgrounds.
Soleanna in my Unleashed Arc? its more crazy than you think!
[quotename='Ian Flynn']Thus far, three games haven't happened in the new continuity:
- Sonic Unleashed
- Sonic Lost World
- Sonic Chronicles: Dark Brotherhood
Why not Sonic Unleashed?
It will become more clear once "The Chase" is done (STH#258-259), but suffice to say, if Unleashed had already happened, a lot of the tension and mystery of the "Shattered World Crisis" would be lost.
Why not Sonic Lost World?
Going forward, I'd really like to keep to the order of the games. Thankfully, the games after Shadow are fairly self-contained, allowing me to "wait" on doing Unleashed until now.
Why not Sonic Chronicles?
Mr. Penders. I'm not sweating it at the moment, though, since Chronicles is supposed to take place a few years after the main timeline anyway. We have plenty of stories to tell until then.[/quote]
For the people still wondering if Unleashed happened or not already, there's your confirmation right there. And the obvious Chronicles one, but everyone probably figured as much with that.
All I've wanted from this entire debacle is a dark Brotherhood adaption, but since the universe has reset there really isn't any need at all.
Looks like they're combining elements of Sonic 2006 into the Unleashed story. Is that a good idea?
Just because the game is generally considered bad, that doesn't make everything related to it complete poison. I think we'll live with there being an adventure on a train in Soleanna.
Unrelated: Ian put up a small Lost Hedgehog Tales teaser.
Holy crap baskets! this is going to be a long read.
After about a year of Archie not reprinting any material in the Super Special Magazine and Digest from people other than Ian and other people still working for Archie (like Angelo DeCesare), a preview's been released of Digest #6 that includes reprints of Issue #1, written by Mike Gallagher. This is also after they outright removed a reprint of Issue #1 from #250.
Might mean nothing, but's a possible sign of Archie having got an all-clear from Gallagher on using some/all of his stuff. Maybe. Take it with a hefty grain of salt.
Meanwhile, Scourge, Beau, and Matilda are officially dead. get this, they can't be used because Penders thought of the basic idea of them so even if he never touched their characters if they were mentioned during his run they are doomed to be cut. so now we are in worst case scenario area, whatever characters can't be used in theory gotta be considered now.
Oh and this:
Beau was first referenced by Gallagher, not Penders. Also, I'm fairly sure worst case scenario territory would be closer to all of SatAM being gone, and no chance of even non-Ken characters showing up, not "Oh man Archie might not want to use Matilda and Scourge because Ken claimed Evil Sonic and Robo Robotnik".
Actually, not even that. The worst case scenario would be the comic being cancelled as a direct result of the whole thing, leading to Archie going under and taking Mega Man with it, Sega suddenly collapsing, and Ken actually releasing something of note all at once. And then all life on Earth is wiped out.
By the way, it's worth noting that there's a difference between "officially dead" and Ian restating what we already knew about Ken claiming Evil Sonic. That's not to say it means absolutely nothing, but Ian's already got annoyed before about reading too deeply into his posts. The Bumbleking post is more blatant about the parents and Elias stuff, but that's stuff we already figured about a year ago anyway.
The 4chan thing from a few days ago is, as far as I know, unrelated. The only thing he ever said there regarding possibly-missing characters was a very vauge thing possibly-maybe saying something about a return of Shard. ("Can't confirm anybody, sorry. But we just started the New Ride (it never ends) You never know who will show up.") Otherwise he just said he wasn't going to confirm anything about missing characters.
This is what I assumed from the absolute start and why I just don't really care about the comic now.
I'm hoping for some good plots but all the good stories happened because of all the world building before.
Now comes the joys of world building again.
Sucks about Scourge, but eh. Not like it's hard to make a new hedgehog character who's a jackass.
Just wish that the comic number started over, since this was a total purge it doesn't serve a purpose to keep that 200-something number now. usually new continuations start with a new comic number, would've been fair and not like it would've wrecked the "longest running video game comic" record they hold.
Only for said record to be broken by Pokémon Special.
