Does Archie not distribute or have a distributor in the UK? Because if so, that is a lot of Sonic fans to just leave out.
No, the only way I've ever been able to get the Archie Sonic comics over here is from a Comic Book Store back near my Mum's that specialises in imports, or online (Typically on eBay). I used to use Disposable Heroes Comics on eBay, but stopped after I received the wrong issue/cover twice in a row. That was enough for me to move to another, more reliable seller. Quite strange that Disposable Heroes Comics were maintaining a really good feedback rating on eBay but recently just closed their account out of the blue, with no warning, and with a bunch of orders left in limbo. Good job I switched when I did.
Tyson uploaded some sketches he did for the comic: https://twitter.com/boxerhockey/status/702677109890641920/photo/1
This look too good for this world. If only this comic was an indication that we're finally getting a proper classic Sonic game
Finally getting a fully-realized comic in Sonic CD/OVA style. This is too good to be true, it really is. I wish we hadn't known about it so early, it would break my heart if something falls through /> If this does make it to print, and is indeed as good as it looks to be shaping up to be, I know I despearately want this to be more than a one-shot.
This looks amazing, and is everything I wanted in a Western Sonic Comic. I want to see more of this! This looks too good for just a one-shot!
I guess it wasn't so hard to please all Sonic fans at once after all. :v: Hello, calling all SEGA plants...
Potentially dumb question, but have Sonic the Hedgehog #279 and Sonic Universe #83 been released in comic stores yet?
Why does it so often feel like the team at Archie are bigger fans of the series and more aware of it's history than anyone at Sonic Team? I'm not saying that that is the case, but gosh that cover is so evocative of all the right things. And all the touches that Archie throws in to reference the series entire past are just so bloody good. I want that cover in poster form so bad!
https://twitter.com/ArchieComics/status/702874683511873536 Quoted for posterity so we can collectively groan/laugh when/if it gets delayed again. :v: Nothing about Universe #83 that I can find.
That's super weird that Archie just decides to fuck over the UK fans. Why is that? Is there no way they can get the comic released without the hassle of import? Like, they could release their comics through another comics distributor in the UK?
There is so much style and personality packed into these few sketches. And Sonic looks super adorable to boot! I hope this version of Sonic crosses over to other media. Just imagine him running around on UbiArt or something similar.
Goddamn Tyson does great work. It's like an expanded CD style and absolutely perfect for classic Sonic. I guess with this and a few other licencing things, the writing on the wall is that Sega's not so afraid to throw around classic Sonic anymore.
Nobody is being fucked over. ALL American comic publishers (Marvel, DC, Image, Dark Horse, Boom, IDW, Oni Press etc) print their comics for an American audience. A company called Diamond distributes those comics to comic stores in America, as well as other countries, including the UK. Diamond is the only American comic book distributor there is. Archie don't produce a UK edition because they have no UK division (same as Marvel, DC, Image etc etc). For a UK edition to come into existence, a UK publisher (such as Panini or Titan) would have to acquire the licence from Sega (and likely work out a deal with Archie as well, depending upon how the contracts work) to reprint and publish the comics for the British market.
Ah, okay, I was aware of Diamond and such because I go to a comic shop, but I didn't know what the deal was in the UK. Thanks for clearing that up. />
