Archie Sonic Comic Megathread

Its possible, all games except a select few have happened in this new universe and Hidden Palace Zone was made official canon to Sonic 2 thanks to TaxStealth.

 

Yeah, all 4 villains from Tails Sky Patrol show up during the Eggman arc that's about to begin in Sonic Universe.

 

Elise and her father haven't shown up, unless you count a mention in the old continuity's encyclopedia.

 

Wasn't Sonic 06 in general given a canon treatment in that book?
I remember seeing official Archie art over at SNN.

 

Maybe it got scrapped because they played the game and saw how bad it was. :v:
But seriously, I don't recall that game ever getting adapted or any of its characters being mentioned in the comics (except Silver).

No, 2006 was never covered due to the transfers of Penders to Flynn as writers at the time, Archie was going through a bit of a shake up and had its own arcs to worry about.

 

Plus, there's the whole wrote-itself-out-of-existence thing, so even if it happened, it didn't happen.

 

Wow, I forgot all about Mephiles. I thought of Elise, her dad, the town from the game and that sun god thing, but not Mephiles. Good find!

But since most of the characters on that page have been ret-conned out of existence... >.>

 

Mephiles is a game character, so he survived that retcon in favour of the 06 retcon, though given Flynn thinks the Time Eater is the remnants of Mephiles that might play a part in the comic.

 

Honestly, It's a good thing 06 wasn't covered. 06 by Penders would have sucked so much it would have created a singularity.

 

Are you suggesting a meaningful connection between arguably the best game in the series and probably the worst game in the series? I genuinely don't know how to feel about that.

 

Hey, two purple time travelling beings that wield blue energy? It's not that hard to believe. Plus it would explain Crisis City's inclusion as coming from MEPHILES' timeline rather than Sonics.

 

As amusingly bad as that sounds, it wouldn't have happened anyway. Penders actually left the book in late 2005 / early 2006, depending on when exactly #159 was finished. Either way, that's almost a year before 06 came out.

Basically, there's a theory that went around back when Generations came out that the mysterious energy Eggman found in space between Colors and Generations was the unformed remnants of Solaris. Here's Ian's thoughts on it from a few years back:
