For a low budget the SA2 engine is great, 60fps and looks quite awesome for DC and game standard back then, it was the DC's icing on the cake with a mega large glazed cherry to finish it off.

  2. SA2 had so many good ideas fall flat that it makes sense that it was more of a "ran out of money" issue then an "incompetent developers" issue. Kind of good to know.

Sort of reassuring that they didn't just play test it, look at the glitches and control issues and say "Yup. It's done!"

  3. I really hope Sega can make this 20th anniversary game bigger & better than any 3D Sonic game, & not a disappointment....

They will if they can focus on avoiding the "Werehog Split" and incorporate everything they wanna do in one play style.

But if they really want to give it a gimmick, make it one that revolves around the speed in itself.

Maybe they could just not make Sonic control like ass.

The need to slow Sonic the fuck down, he doesn't need to move that fast, something like his SA1 speed would be perfect. Not to fast, but not too slow. At that speed, you can still have fun going fast, but not deal with the fucking retarded way Sonic controls in the new games because they think he needs to go over 9000mph.

At slow speeds, he's really slippery. Adding to that, there are actually a bunch of different control styles in this game, which are quietly switched between. Some of the control schemes are really weird, particularly during this one bit in Jungle Joyride, at a spot right at the end of a grind rail, you run along an ancient road or something with bombs on it that you need to sidestep. The controls in this bit are bizarre. The game allows you to stop here, but doing so was apparently not intended by the developers, because the controls respond in strange ways.

E: They also changed how Sonic behaves in the air. Instead of being more maneuverable like he's supposed to be, you have very little mid air control and he decelerates if you're going very fast.

I guess so, because I haven't heard anything about him since the day this topic was posted. The best I can reckon is that he was a troll; he certainly never came and talked to me, anyway.

I have been trying to get a hold of him for days. He's not on AIM anymore, or he blocked me.

I'm just going to keep his little pearls of wisdom locked in my head until the time comes to decide if he's legit or not.

I don't think he gives a shit who you are :words:

He obviously made the AIM name for the purpose of the thread. It's not like he has an actual AIM SN he actually uses.

If anything, he reverted back to anonymous and just won't say shit since the GENERAL public has forgotten and gone back to making troll threads.

2nd worst part of the game. :words: I hate this so much, along with them bringing back the running on butter controls and a lack of spindash.

Hey guys, sorry to bump this topic; it's only been a couple days since the last post, but interest in the topic's pretty dead. In any case, remember how I said I'd ask my girlfriend to contact the designer of Chronicles? Well, we finally got news from him today! This is all quoted directly from Koji:

Granted, the guy's recent silence didn't help his case, but now we know for sure that he was, indeed, full of it.

That... doesn't really confirm anything at all. It's a word-of-mouth testimony based entirely on faith; conversely, we've made observations where literally the same inaccurate arrangement quirks from the original MIDIs are present in Chronicles' music. Besides that, do you really think a company—or one of their non-confidential associates—would admit to taking fan-created works off the internet, legal or not? There's not really a solid basis for the testimony to work from, so I don't particularly take that as any sort of "confirmation" either way.

Like I said before—the only way we'll know he's legit or not is to get his company credentials and confirm them privately. No real way to confirm either possibility until then.

You're right, sorry. This would prove that Wentos' story was false if it didn't depend on someone's honesty/knowledge. Ah well, worst case scenario, we'll be able to add to the history books that the designer denied it regardless of whether or not it's true.

Until we have actual proof, I'm sticking to the version where they had a decent score which was removed due to legal reason, resulting in rushed "remixes" of Sonic CD/3D Blast music. That seems the most logical out of all the "theories."

In fact, I wouldn't doubt it if their original score was Sonic 1/2 music, and Dreams Come True came in and refused them the song rights. Didn't they do that with Sonic Spinball after STI remixed the Sonic 2 theme?

Not exactly. The remix was made without having any license to do so, and Sega didn't want to spend money in getting one, so the music was changed before even thinking in asking.

I could have sworn that they got licenses for the Sonic 1 & 2 music for other projects. I vaguely recall hearing some of the songs in Sonic Advance.

Can't see Nakamura suddenly getting greedier for a Bioware RPG, myself.
