Anyways, I asked Koji who asked her boss to contact the guy that used to work at their studio as soon as he gets online, seeing as he was a designer for Sonic Chronicles and they're friends. Sorry if I seem obsessed with that whole MIDI ordeal, but it's pretty much the only solid thing we can look into at the moment.

 

Are we really clutching at straws already? Come on, guys.

Like I said—if the guy is interested in proving his story as legit, he'll come on here and talk to the staff privately through AIM, email, or otherwise. Don't worry about trying to prove or disprove his legitimacy—we'll do that for you.

 

Perhaps they don't trust us after your little social experiment.

 

I would gladly ask for his personal credentials if his supposed position with SEGA wasn't at risk. Even if Tweaker claims to be completely truthful with not revealing this guy's identity, I'm not on anyone's side about this. I just don't want to see this explode into the same situation like Mr. Andec's.

The guy gave us a tip on the next possible Sonic game. Nothing to wet your pants over yet because nothing was even officially announced.

Just archive, wait, then proceed to slam this guy for his trolling if he turns out to be bullshit.

 

Right, and that's totally fair. Here's the ticket, though—you don't have anything to lose if you were to reveal this guy's identity, while he has his job to lose. Conversely, if he were to reveal his identity to the Sonic Retro staff, we have our credibility to lose—if we were to selfishly reveal his identity to the masses, we'd have the weight on our shoulders knowing that we not only lost an employee his job for our own selfish gain, but that we've proven to the public that we're not trustworthy. That is a very, very bad stain to have on your record, believe me, and provides quite a bit of incentive to come to us rather than you.

Personally, I think it's worth it to stop the back-and-forth bullshit about whether or not this guy is legit. Plus, it's always nice to know that people in the game industry can trust you, isn't it? I think it works out for all parties involved.

 

I agree. I'll stop the back and forthing and drop this matter for now. Until something else pops up, I'm done posting in this thread.

He confirmed the deal on that blog post. It was legit for the past Sonic Team who worked on 06 and titles before it, but Unleashed's team was comprised of completely new members fresh out of college who love Sonic.

In short, it doesn't apply to Sonic Team anymore. SEGA recently adjusted the policies between them and Sonic Team because it FINALLY occurred to them "BAD SONIC=BAD SEGA" in the general public's eye. After several years of bullshitting, they're finally letting up on it.

SEGA will not be slowing Sonic down anytime soon, which is why they will be using the Sonic Story book series, Riders, etc. to earn a quick buck and a positive image.

Who here also remembers the sega rep who could barely contain his shit eating grin proclaiming "we can't say anything... yet!" when asked if there would be classic stages remade in Sonic Unleashed?
