touchè, it slightly pissed me off to, not because sega cancelled it but because it became Wii U exclusive, meaning I'll prob buy that damn thing someday >> I mean cancel another game... IDK Sega do some god damn testing and advertising.
It's out next week? I thought it was the 31st for some reason. Well, at least it was easy to find in an incredibly tiny picture on Gamestop's front page. Guess I'll go for the 360 version.
So yeah, if I'm remembering correctly SEGA's treatment of this game was pretty much the final straw for Platinum Games, right? Damn SEGA, why do you have to treat such an awesome little studio like crap?
Uh, they're not a little studio, they're currently making three games at the same time. (Metal Gear Rising, Wonderful 101 and Bayonetta 2) The delay was probably because Sega of America and Europe now focus more on existing and popular franchises for retail releases while limiting new IPs to downloadable titles. The problem is they only pump their marketing money in their biggest franchises (Sonic, Alien, Total War and Football Manager) while giving the new IPs pretty much no chance. The Cave is releasing this month and we still don't have a specific release date for the game. EDIT: I just realised, if Wonderful 101 still gets released in Q1 we'll get three games from Platinum in one quarter of a year. :O
Well, they were before but yeah, I guess they certainly expanded, despite SEGA's marketing mistakes. Either way, I still remember Platinum Games being pretty miffed about SEGA's treatment of the western release.
It beginssss. Picked the game up, and lets see what's going on with this game. EDIT: It began alright. first online match was a total failure on my part. 0 kills and 8 deaths. I'm GOOD AT THIS GAME GUUYZZZ :specialed: EDIT 2: Wow... Abysmal does not even begin to describe my online performance... I'm gonna play one player for a bit longer before I come back...
Yeah, I think I'll stick to single player and friend matches for now. The Japanese have so much more experience.
Oh hey, update about SEGA's wonderful handling of this title. A good number of people, including me, got bum codes for unlocking Bayonetta.
According to Gamestop's front page, this game is a Best Seller, alongside the new God of War, Fire Emblem, Dishonored, Blops II, etc. ...maybe it isn't doing THAT badly? Not sure how that system works.
It would be very nice if this game has become a sleeper hit. It's also in the top 10 of best selling games at Game Mania, a big Dutch game store.
Gotta be honest guys, not really feeling it. Combat is really clunky especially compared to Bayonetta. That and I'm just finding it too difficult both in the single player on Normal and online where I don't get a chance to throw a single punch. Mind you I had this same problem with mad World, and seeing as this is a sort of sequel to that I guess I shouldn't be too surprised. To be fair the only Platinum game I did get along with was Bayonetta, and even that game was too hard for my liking a lot of the time but it had...workarounds, that made it more manageable (infinite flute glitch haha). Vanquish was nigh on impossible for me to get the hang of too, just too many controls and stuff to remember. I love what these guys do in terms of style, setting etc, but their games are too often way above my league to actually play. A real shame, I really wanted to like it.
I echo your sentiments. I felt exactly the same with Vanquish. Downloaded the demo and spent almost 45 minutes in just the tutorial and still couldn't play the game. The speeding blur of the awesome action sequences looked thrilling to play; but I just couldn't get to grips with the controls to be able to play them. I don't know whether this just because I'm getting older or something. I managed to master games like Gunvalkyrie (famous for having some of the hardest controls of all-time) when I was younger. Perhaps I'm just becoming impatient. I wanted to like Vanquish. I really did. I still admire the brilliance of the game. I just wish I could actually play it. I'm evading trying Bayonetta for the same reason. It looks awesome but I'm concerned it might be like Vanquish. Amazing game. Impossible to master.
There was me thinking I was the only one haha. I ended up picking the game up cheap anyway and played maybe an hour of it but had no idea what I was doing really. Got lucky on the first couple levels then got whupped. Bayonetta is a bit less like that I think. On the first two difficulties it's manageable enough, it's only when you reach hard and up the game really rips you a new arsehole. Also there are plenty of things you can buy and abuse to makes things a bit easier for you, like the various lolipops. Abusing a couple item glitches and finding some halo grinding tricks to buy everything helped me eventually platinum the game, though it took quite a bit of work. Worth it though, it's fun when it's not being too cheap.
If for some reason $30 on release wasn't cheap enough for you, it's on sale for $20 at the moment. http://www.gamestop.com/browse?nav=16k-3-Anarchy+Reigns,28zu0
