This is getting very convoluted for a head angle. And I thought making Amy Sonic 3-esque would be simple. I'm still mixed as to which version to use, though I will likely keep it a LITTLE akin to the original sprite for a bit of consistancy. After all there's still many other character sheets to try at: Uploaded with ImageShack.us EDIT: Added another potential experiment.
Eh. No offense to the KC team but those sprites look rather basic and off model. Obviously it was a very quickly made easter egg. The pallette may work but it looks kinda diluted. I'll give them credit for adding on all of Amy's little attire details missing in the CD ones though.
O_O Psi you throw in Bark and Chaos and I'll be your pupil forever. Also the Sonic 3 Amy is looking good.
I think instead of making more character in Sonic 1 hacks he should port some of his characters into Sonic 2 instead. He already did that for Amy so it seems possible.
I've made some start to that, as you can see it's off to a rocky start: Uploaded with ImageShack.us I like doing the Sonic 1 hacks because they work well for 'proof in concept', much more simplistic, less excess objects coding to get around and the levels are good for simple platforming to get a good idea how the character feels. Also less sprites to make.
Nah. Full hack with replacement character, new levels (art, layouts, gimmicks, badniks, music) and new everything else. I know, time-consuming and all that. Pretty sure it's not above a few folk here to stop, collaborate and listen.
The problem is that she looks like she has a hunch back when her head goes so far forward. On the subject of those sprites: If a Fang in Sonic1/2/3 was ever made, how could he play compared to the other characters? Could a gun work?
I dunno. I reckon I'd have to figure out projectiles to use Fang to his full potential. Otherwise just make him work like Sally's laser. Also give him a tail jump (likely similar to Mario's double/triple jump). Truthfully I think Fang (and maybe Bean) have even more potential as bosses however.
I always thought of Fang controlling like Gex in his first game. Push down in mid-air to use it as a spring that can damage enemies from above and send him bouncing into the air again. One action button could swing his tail, the other could fire his weapon if included. The only Sonic game where he officially has a gun is Sonic the Fighters though I don't see it as a must as he can use that tail.
The spring tail would likely be easier to program, but it's not really unique and impressive enough to be a signiture move, the water shield and Big's body slam work in a very similar manner. The gun was his more unique ability in Fighters (and it did appear in an early screen of Triple Trouble, implying it was meant to be part of his character from an early point). A fair few of his fans seem to like him for sporting a pistol anyway.
About the "spring tail", I was thinking that it might work better as Mickey's "butt attack" in Castle of Illusion, rather than the Bubble Shield's special. If you're ever implementing him, I also suggest making his bullets "cost" 10 rings each, so the gun can't be spammed too much.
Mickey's butt stomp only seems to bounce on objects. Fang's tail is a spring so it would make sense to work on any platform similar to the water shield. Alternative I could omit spin moves so it's his only form of attack, though that may make him too similar to Sally (who I also intend to give a projectile once I figure it out).
Oh, sure it should bounce off the ground as well as any objects, I just meant the way of activating it (either by pressing Down or holding Jump again) and its trajectory keeping the original jump's rather than plummeting to the ground.
Fang would likely have a great Marvelous Queen boss like in Triple Trouble. Bean I think would have to have a completely deranged 'Big Lipped Alligator Moment' of a boss stage. :D Imagine fighting early Daffy Duck/Woody Woodpecker, but with an endless stash of cartoon bombs.
Is this kinda the style people were hoping for?: I may as well use this as the Amy in Sonic 3 development thread until I have an uploadable version.
I think it would be better if you added Amy to Sonic 3 & Knuckles as people playing Sonic 3 would probably be wishing it was 3 & Knuckles anyway.
