Disappointingly little information in the trailer, but it feels a bit wacky that a SEGA owned studio could dev an Age of Empires IV. Then again, the whole year has been rather wacky.
I completely agree, but it still has the potential to be a great RTS. I mean, worst case scenario is that the news will get more people buying AoE II on Steam (which has reached 4.3 million owners!)
Personally, I don't need it to be as good as AoE II. I Just need it to be nowhere near as bad as AoE III.
Can we all agree that announcements for games with not even a tad of details is annoying as hell? If this is following up on time periods, would this be pretty much from 1900+ ?
Was AoE Sega-related before, or it's just IV? And this means this installment was supervised both by M$ and Sega?
AoE was never Sega-related before. EDIT: Unless you want to bring up Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings.
The original team that made Age of Empires, Ensemble Studios, doesn't exist anymore because microsoft shut them down. They also made Halo Wars. Since then, sega has basically conglomerated every RTS company on the planet not named blizzard, and has become the preeminent RTS company. Microsoft hired Sega's Creative Assembly studio to do Halo Wars 2, opening up a rapport between the two companies. This is their follow up project with Microsoft, albeit this time handled by Relic (Sega's other major RTS studio).
...I believe Age Of Empires: Definitive Edition came out. That is a remaster of the first game, AOE4 is still being developed.
