Well, I've recently started a palette hack of Sonic 2 Beta, out of boredom. I know these are no-so-good, but I just thought I'd show it anyway.

New palette for Green Hill. (Also notice Sonic's palette is from Sonic 1).

New Zones names on the level select screen.

Hill Top Zone, which I now call "Volcanic Hill Zone". I still need to fix the background...

I changed Hidden Palace a little bit (the flashy things were originally green, but are now blue).

More Hidden Palace...(I plan to give this an icy blue palette like I did in another hack).
A palette I started on for Chemical Plant, not quite finished yet though...

    Again...

The background palette of the clouds was fixed, and I made it to look like lava.

Not to be a critic, but just as advice: If you're trying to make an icy blue pallete in HPZ, you'll have to change the brown into light blue. Or maybe change the background and the lights and tubes to a lighter tint of blue. :( B) :)

Yeah, I know. I've done this before. Kinda like what I did in this Ashura hack here:

Personally, I think that's the best bit of palette work I've ever done! :P

Well actually, the cave doesn't always have to be dark... Ninja, what editor do you use? :( <--(double smiley!)

I used the Esrael Sonic Editor (ESE). And yes, I know it doesn't always have to be dark, but I just like icy places for some reason.

    Looks good.
Are you gonna post it on the internet somewhere so we can play it?

To be brutally honest, I think palette hacks alone are lame. At least change the level layouts or sprites or something.

If it's so easy, why don't you do it?

Well, yes. I will release the hack as soon as I'm finished with it, it won't take long, this'll probably just take a few days.

Well, I can attempt a new level design, even though I am not 100% good at it. But I suck at spriting COMPLETELY, so therefore, I won't be adding new sprites to the game, sorry...

EDIT: Hidden Palace Zone palette complete!

Heh, this reminded me of a Mario level on the NES.

Really? It must be one of those castle levels with the fire in it on Super Mario Bros. 1, or 3...one of them, I assume. =P

Hack is still in progress, and I've almost done with it...and I have done a new palette for Oi Ocean Zone.

that's a nice looking hack. I made my oil ocean pallete just like that but the backround was like a more bluish. The level goes by the name "Toxic Dump"

Well, the hack's almost finished. So far, I've got lots of the palettes done, and I have only few more to go. Then I'll be ready to release the hack soon. ^_^
