I love how they even accounted for the possibility of people knowing the level select code in this demo; they didn't remove the level select, but you can only scroll between the acts that are actually playable within the demo (THZ1-GZ3). Don't know why they didn't just remove it entirely, personally.

Cool to know. I am anxious to hear about the differences but I think this thread belongs in the Sonic section.

I would love to be able to take a look... when I can get the file.

Personally, I'd like to see more documentation on the Game Gear / SMS Sonic games. I wonder if the demo has unused tiles like what I found in Electric Egg or the Special stages in the final.

Well time to compare the original dump to this one. I wonder how much different it'll be.

    The demo build:

    GG SONIC & TAILS < Ver0.99 > 1993/09/14 @SEGA/Aspect Co

    The final build:

    GG SONIC & TAILS < Ver1.01 > 1993/09/07 @SEGA/Aspect Co

    :\

    Weird version numbers though.

  8. So... 0.99 is a later build than 1.01 by a week? That seems...odd.

Why'd the say there are differences when it doesn't appear they're even aware of a single one?

I get a feeling it's exactly the same as the final, save for a few byte differences or something that won't be graphically noticeable.

Actually from what I've seen you're right a lot of bytes are similar, they are just located at different offsets. I haven't changed the value of any bytes though, nor have I compared gameplay so I didn't notice anything different besides the same data just located somewhere else.

True. While they aren't as lush and fun as the Gen/MD ones they have a lot of potential.

Didn't know Aspect did Chaos as well, since it's mechanics seemed rather different from Sonic 2, somewhat clunkier, not to mention to enormously easier difficulty compared to the frustrating latter.

Tempted to get the Nazo Puyo ROM as well (basically a game devoted to Mean Bean Machine's puzzle mode, so what if I don't understand the Japanese instructions). :D

Er, I did, and it's like trying to find Waldo. that is if they even have a download link.

(do you need an account to be able to download anything there?)

Yes I did; I couldn't find it, so hence why I asked.

    Jeez.

Thanks BlackSquirrel. Didn't notice the files yesterday.

when you finish it you see a COMING SOON text and a voice sample saying "coming soon." Oh, and the demos are the same as the final. Still has Mecha Green Hill demos and all.

For some reason I can't get it to run in Regen, it flashes the SEGA logo in several colors and then Regen crashes, I wonder why. It works fine in Fusion though.
