Topics I've Started

  1. Zone of the Enders was planned as a Dreamcast game

    15 September 2011 - 01:19 AM

Hideo Kojima just said it on the Tokyo Game Show livecast.

Not sure if any of you care, but I did found that interesting.
  2. Getting a Japanese mobile game JAR

    19 February 2011 - 06:07 AM

Someone and I are working on a project and it would make things much, much easier if we could only get a hold of a Japanese mobile phone game. It's Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake and it should be available for I-mode, EZweb, Vodafone and Yahoo! Keitai. It's cost is around the equivalent of $3.75. I'd like to buy it but I can't find a way to do this. I then tried to resort to piracy but I can't even find it. I thought about sending $5 via PayPal to someone who lives in Japan, but then there might be difficulties in extracting the JAR.

    Any ideas?

  4. Penguin Adventure pirate port for Master System

    20 September 2010 - 03:41 AM

While doing some Hideo Kojima related research, I came across a Korean pirate ROM image for Penguin Adventure... for SEGA Master System. The game plays exactly like the MSX original though there were some framrate issues and it's clearly a direct port since the title screen still says "PUSH SPACE KEY." Or at least the Korean pirates didn't notice or give a shit, I dunno.

I even found this boxart which asides from being mildly frightening also looks completely different from the actual MSX boxart, yet, quite similar at the same time.

How easy is it to port MSX games to Master System, anyways? What about MSX2 titles?
