Hacks/tweaks for more recent games
22 December 2011 - 12:51 PM
So I'm just wondering, has anyone publicly released any fun hacks we can play with for Sonic 4 and Sonic Generations? I have both running on my PC now and I remember folks showing off all the crazy stuff they could do with the physics and stuff but I don't recall ever seeing any actual downloads. -
What's making my hard drive grind all the time?
01 November 2011 - 09:34 AM
So yeah, Windows and I don't get along. I don't know if I am just doing it wrong, or if other people are just so used to this kind of crap that they don't notice it, but whenever I have a windows install for more than a few months, it gets SLOOOOOOOW.
Luckily for me, my supervisor lets me use Ubuntu at work so I don't have to deal with constant lag. Unfortunately, there are a couple of websites that I need for my daily work that rely on ActiveX, and so I have a virtual machine with XP on it that I ONLY use for those specfic sites. No surfing, no installing random apps, I NEVER use this system for anything but Microsoft Office and a couple of order processing sites for work. Despite that, this damn thing is STILL running like molassas today. I've rebooted several times, run CCleaner and Bleachbit, and disabled nearly all the services and startup items, and yet it still sits here, at a clean desktop, with nothing open, swapping like a mofo. The hard drive is just grinding and grinding and grinding. When I run the task manager, I can see SVHOST.EXE is using a little CPU, and growing in memory size. (To be clear, I'm referring to the virtual hard drive and system, Ubuntu is still running fine and my phsycial hard disk is idle)
So, Windows users, how do I cope with this? -
Have you guys ever tried Bleachbit?
15 October 2011 - 02:08 PM
I just started using this recently on Ubuntu because it's a great alternative to the Windows only CCleaner and does much of the same stuff, but apparently they have it for Windows too! Give it a try, it seems like it might even do a BETTER job cleaning, with the "Firefox vaccum" and shit. Ihaven't tried it on Windows yet but it did wonders in my newly upgraded Ubuntu system at work, which was getting a little sluggish after the upgrade. Ran this, and VROOOM

Ubuntu 11.10 Beta 1 Impressions
02 September 2011 - 05:23 PM
So the new Ubuntu beta came out recently, anyone try it yet? I was very disappointed with it on the initial install, but after installing the updates it's actually pretty stable. Lots of nice eye candy, and Unity actually works, at least so far.
Anyone else try it? -
Sonic Unleashed for Mobile
19 July 2011 - 11:07 PM
Have you guys seen/played this?
It's currently the only sega game available for Android (wth guys, Android has had a larger market share than iPhone for a while, and Windows Phone 7? What kind of a bribe did they need to do that port of Sonic 4?
The weird thing about this game is that it's the opposite of the the console Unleashed in that Sonic's gameplay pretty much sucks but the Werehog levels are the most fun in this game. Also it's neat that they drew inspiration from the Sonic CD sprites, with that twirl animation.
