PS3 issues

I'm having a rather disconcerting issue with my PS3. I was using it as normal earlier today, when it suddenly shut off. I tried turning it on again, and it shut itself off in less than a second. Thinking it had overheated, I left it alone for a while, then tried again with the same results. At this point, I took a can of air and cleaned the inside of the system, but alas it did not help. That is where I am now.
I have a "fat model" PS3, which I've owned since Christmas of 2008. My warranty has expired and I do not have the funds to buy a new system. Any help in repair of my PS3 would be greatly appreciated.
