  1. Shadow in Sonic 1

    13 February 2011 - 10:30 AM

    Here I am again, with my second hack project, joining the madness of 'X character IN Sonic 1' too :P
    And hence Shadow is my fave character and there wasn't any Shadow in S1 hacks (at least that I'm aware of) I decided to make one for him.

    This by no means is intended to be a copy of Sonic Megamix. As I said, I just wanted it to be plain Shadow in Sonic 1.
    Also I want to give thanks to the wonderful people that helped me on this, making it kinda a collaborative project between me, Jimmy Hedgehog, Selbi, MarkeyJester and E-122-Psi, thanks to these people for their help and coding and from the marvelous people who made the Shadow sprite sheet found on The Mystical Forest Zone page http://themysticalforestzone.com/sprites_2..._two_Gardow.png (and me, of course, because I did some of the sprites that were missing :P)

    Earlier revisions:

    Movelist:

    Down + Jump: Spindash
    A: Kick
    D Pad + Jump: Homming attack/Jumpdash

    Known bugs:

    *Miscolorations from pallette restrictions almost everywhere

    To Do List:

    *Implement walljump in the future
    *Implement an aerial attack while pressing A in the air (a flying kick maybe?)
  2. Stella the cat

    20 January 2011 - 02:22 PM

    Some of you may remember this hack from the Random Hack/Min project thread that I posted some time ago. Well, after a long hiatus on working on this project I decided to start working on it again and now I think I can finally release a semi decent build of it.
    First of all, I'd like to thanks all the people that helped me on this hack, without their help I would never have been able to make it. Special thanks to E-122-Psi, Selbi, Markey Jester, Destructiox, Cede (who is not on this forum sadly), Aquaslash, FraGag, iojnekns and many more, for all their help and especially for dealing and helping with me and my whining while I was making this.

    Also I'd like to thank E-122-Psi again, because he was the main inspiration for creating this hack, so I give credit to him for the original idea. Credit to Selbi for the jumpdash code, Lightning for the original spindash guide, vladikcomper on SSRG for the water skimming code, MarkeyJester, Aquaslash etc etc for their original codes.

    Now I present you Stella the cat in Sonic 1, my first hack featuring my fancharacter:

    Features:

    * New name of some stages with newer palletes to make it a bit more 'original'. I hope to learn SonED2 soon so that way I can edit the stages and make them custom.
    * Spindash: press down + jump
    * Jumpdash: press jump twice
    * Tailspin attack: press A
    * Flying kick attack: jump + A
    * In some stages like Labyrinth, if you have enough speed and press jump repeteadly you can perform a water skimming.

    Known bugs:

    * Some VRAM issues: the ending sprite is garbled in one point, and the flying kick attack as well.
    * Demos are crazy.
    * Palletes. They need to be fixed like everywhere. Also I need to recolour the rest of stages (I accept ideas).

    This is by no means the final version of this hack. I hope to work more on it when I have the chance again, also one day I'd like to implement my own custom stages but I still have to learn how to use SonED2. Also PLEASE, if you're going to put a video on Youtube or if you've seen a video of this hack, I would appreciate it really much if people would stop complaining about the palletes issue and the colours being wrong. I know it already and I'll try to fix it once I learn to do so. Thank you.
