Ok, how about I seriously fill this out for once!

First and foremost, I'm obviously into Sonic. I was brought into the series by the cartoons and comics, and would start playing the games in about 2000 with Sonic 2 (lol late) Been playing the games ever since, though I did taper off once 06 hit a bit.

I've come to realize over the years that my main attraction to Sonic is the many different characters. Sure Sonic himself is the man, but he's got a pretty slick set of friends and foes. I seem to enjoy organizing the data between all of them, and absolutely HATE to see bias because of point of entry into the series (games vs cartoons, etc). Things like "SegaSonic" are facetious bull and need to die in a fire.

My current favorite characters are Sonia and Silver, with Metal Knuckles, Metal Sonic, and Eggman Nega trailing a bit. I also have high regards for Sonic, Knuckles, Tails (as much as I hate to admit it), and especially the Freedom Fighters (Sally, Rotor, Bunnie, etc) as those are the characters I grew up with, and to me, they ARE "Old School Sonic".

Aside from that, I'm a big Transformers fan, and my main faction is the Decepticons. I'm a big Jeopardy! watcher, and not ashamed to admit that I'm a Totally Spies! fan as well. (favorite transformer is Megatron, and favorite spy is Britney)

I'm somewhat of a toy collector, mostly of all the franchises I loved as a kid and now, and I work on sprites, drawing, and amateur music composition in my spare time.

I think that's all of the basics, if you wanna know more, just ask.

  1. The Sonic the Hedgehog 4 News Thread

    06 October 2010 - 12:15 AM

Alright, so there's a ton of updates coming out for this game, and it's not quite time to open the floodgates for discussion yet. What this will be is a thread of just news updates. Things like site updates, interviews, that kind of thing. Since this thread is pinned, there will simply be edits to the main thread. The update tag will be changed accordingly, so keep your eyes on that.

    10/06/10
To get it started, we have a lengthy interview with CNET and Ruby Eclipse.
This features a direct feed demo of Casino Street Acts 2 and 3 and Mad Gear Zone act 1, and also shows off the updated title screen and world map modes.

Additionally we have an interview with NintendoLife and Ken Balough, which gives a few hints about Episode 2, and when to expect info for it.

As for discussion, the thread will be started after all versions of Episode 1 are released.

  2. The Power of Mac Guffins

    08 September 2010 - 05:25 PM

Ok, so a little discussion got started in the Sonic 4 thread about use of the chaos Emerald. However, because that thread keeps shifting, and rather than split everything cause it was somewhat related, I just decided to start a new topic.

Now, the main question was why couldn't Tails transform with the Chaos Emeralds. The original answer was because the ability was supposed to have been given to Sonic, but these plans were axed due to time constraints.. From here on, it seems like Sega was looking to just roll with what ended up with in the final Sonic 2. A proto of the complete Sonic 3 shows Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles with Super AND Hyper States. For whatever reason, Tails's Super State fell through the cracks, and his Hyper State became his default Super State.

This brings us to the new, and now current reason. When asked why Sonic can transform almost automatically with the Chaos Emeralds, Yuji Naka says that it is an issue of mastery. Now assuming the Sega of today gives a rats butt about canon, Sonic is evidently skilled at using the power of the Chaos Emeralds. So much so that he can transform other characters into their Super States. Shadow and Silver share said skill, Tails never had it, and Knuckles apparently lost it.

However, as I said in the other topic, this would leave the gate wide open for someone like Tails to be taught to wield the energy of the Emeralds. That's well we'll start the discussion. Is that a plot point any of you would like to see explored? Any other ideas involving the emeralds?
  3. The Miles "Tails" Prower megathread

    25 May 2010 - 09:14 PM

I was gonna bring that one thread out of the trash, but a few of the posts are a little spammy, so let's do this instead.

This is now the "Miles "Tails" Prower megathread". That main subject is "why Tails should/shouldn't" be in Sonic 4, but can also veer into Tails discussion in general. Since the subject keeps coming up, I figure it's best to let it have it's own thread.

I personally think he's a given for Sonic 4, and has pretty much been confirmed, but clearly peeps think otherwise. As long has he doesn't screw up my special stages, and gets a kickass super state, I'm cool with it.

    Now go.
  4. Naoto Oshima talks about Sonic CD

    04 December 2009 - 01:30 PM

so check out this neat little interview

Oshima speaks of many of the things he was involved with, including Sonic. He mentions that the time changed were originally supposed to be instant, a la Back to the Future. He also mentions that Sonic CD was essentially created as Sonic 1 for the Sega CD, and that they were in contact wit the S2 staff from the get go, exchanging ideas and the like.
  5. Metal Sonic looks the same?

    05 October 2009 - 01:23 AM

Ok, so since it was veering off topic, I've split off the Metal Sonic discussion into its own topic. This topic can now cover the differences in Metal Sonic's Classic and Modern appearances. The original post that started it is as follows.

    QUOTE
If bringing back the classic style means a return of the classic Amy and Metal Sonic, then it can screw right off. Their modern looks are so much more appealing it isn't even funny. At least in my book they are.

But now I digress from the topic, except to say I wish they had some classic arts like that of Super Sonic.
