Hello. I apologise if I have written into a wrong forum.

I am trying to work on my own videogame, which I have had ideas for ages and now I felt like getting my arse together and actually do something! I mostly am doing some graphics so I have something to start off from. That's why I came here to ask some questions, because You people have worked on games too or Roms and have experience with it.

Here are some WIP and few finished work I worked so far, so You get ideas what character it is. I hope MarkeyJester doesnt kill me when I have antennas... I did not know anything about MJ character when I created my chara in 2007....

But I have got few questions what worrie me a bit, maybe people around here can help or give tips.

I mostly want to make my game 2D, similar to Rayman Origins/Castle Crashers/Alien Hominid etc.

Here are some questions what bug me:

Question 1:

How are the animations done, so they "link'' with eachother smoothly? Do I have to make like millions of sprites so the animations go together fluidly or I should not worrie about it too much?


For example, I have that running Zputnik who shoots and then goes back to running so I could make the run smooth, but shooting always starts at this part:



but when I shoot at another pose, such as



then the running fucks up, cause there will be a ''hiccup'' between the running animation...

2nd question:

What are some good pages to get ideas making backgrounds for games? I'm so shit at thinking of BGs and I never have any ideas what to fill it. I have nice ideas in my brain, but when I start drawing, I do not get any ideas.

Question 3:

Do I get into trouble when I use similar ideas from other games or I should not worrie about it? This is my biggest fear of making game... like maybe I get sued if I used similar idea in my game.... (For example, in mitsume gatooru, there is a place where you shoot at nothing and there appears a chicken, who throws you coins, which is a cool secret. I would like to use similar idea but with different ideas, like wheel of fortune and some other things)

This glitch has bugged me years. I had to reset my game so much thanks to this glitch. I could not find that glitch on youtube but that's how it usually was. When you beat Eggman on Wing Fortress and you went down the hole and ran untill you stopped near the edge. Then when Sonic came up, Tails usually jumps on it and goes after Eggman right? Well, sometimes Tails does jump the same way and everything seems to go normal but when Tails is about to land on a plane, he suddenly gets shifted to the right side and falls off the plane and dies. After you die and try doing it again does not remove the glitch. If it already happened, it will forever untill you reset your game or lose all your lifes. This place has scared me sooo much whenever I arrived there. I remember I prayed or hoped it won't happen. Back then I did not know level select existed and I doubt I had internet too. If I did, I did not know that much English to find correct things. To me it meant that if it happened, I had to do all game all over again.

Has anyone else had this glitch too? Anyone knows what causes this to happen? Could this fuck it up if I spindash too much before I arrive on the edge? I see if I can make it happen again so I can do a video and show you. I also think maybe it only happened with a pirate cart.

Lately this has pissed me off quite a lot. Let's start from the beginning. I got IBM X41 thinkpad around Oct or nov as I wanted to draw everywhere and I love this touch screen function. It had Windows 7 installed on it. Few months ago my PC started to go very slow and for no reason stuff is taking much longer to come up and they mostly like to freeze. Like I turn on my Flash program, it sometimes freezes 4 sec or I read Sonic retro what has a long page and then it freezes for 40 SECONDS and when it unfreezes, I can scroll a page for 3 sec and then 30 sec freeze... the SSD I have here is around 30gb huge.

SSD is KingSpec KSD-PA18.1-032MJ

Tiido thought Windows 7 caused that shit to happen so we installed Xp on it. We did not understand why someone wanted to install Win7 on a pc what can't handle it as Win7 is too powerful for this pc. Ok, Xp installed, clean stuff done and took few days to found the touch function. Now few days later and again these freezes happen. Reading other forums and 30 second freeze and I can't click anything. Nothing functions. And then after 30 sec, everything like goes in fast version and everything opens up. HHD is constantly on use when these freezes happen. Sometimes when Windows boots in and the desktop is seen, things opened up can take 2-3minutes to open...
Tiido did use some XP stuff to make my PC faster but I have not seen anything gone faster...

Could my SSD be crap that these happen and is there a possibility to put normal laptop HDD on it instead of SSD? Or could be there some hardware problem? My PC did have some RAM issues as everytime I turned it on for a first time, it got BSOD around 2-10min. Next time I turned it on (When it restarted from the BSOD) the BSOD did not come. The RAM got changed and no BSOD. I sometimes randomly have got atapi.sys and DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL BSODS.

I really don't know what to do really.
