Just print-screened all of the Zone screens. Can see them all here (to lazy to put image tags on them all for now)

(Can just click through them. A lot of new things to see like snowboarding and those bastard seals sucking up air bubbles underwater.)

Why did I think this would not be another train derailment?

I guess Sonic Generations and Sonic CD mean nothing after all; oh well!

They definitely mean something, both were great in my opinion and many others and Sonic really is starting to stand for quality though.

However, not many people have much faith these days in Dimps making Sonic games after the recent Sonic 4 Episode 1 and Sonic Generations 3DS. It also is disappointing to see them trinkling minimal info out again like they did with episode 1 when building it up to be some big reveal. It is a nice throw-back and the logo isn't bad, just not really awe-strucking either. It looks like the Sonic 4 logo except Sonic is telling us to take a hike or else Tails is going to give us a knuckle sandwich.

But still nice to have Tails in the fray. Will we be able to play as him in Episode 1 now is the question.

Oh wow, looks considerably nicer than the Episode I logo, nice.

Only gripe I have with it is Tails' mouth. I mean, is he in a constant state of awe or something?

No gums. Must be afraid his teeth will fall out of place or something unless he's constantly smiling.

I'll probably get it for 360 and iOS. I haven't really been following this thread so I didn't know Tails was available until just now. How is he unlocked?

Also it's nice that we have both soundtracks, but I really wish we could have had the option to choose which song we wanted to play for each level, like in Generations. For the most I prefer the US soundtrack but there are a few JP songs that I prefer.

Unlocked by completing the game once. So far what I recall as all the confirmed changes to the game (someone correct me please if I say something incorrect):
-Using Taxman's Retro Engine, which also allows 60fps and true widescreen.
-Can select physics from either the original Sonic CD, or Sonic 2-styled (including the rev-up spin-dash).
-US & Japanese Soundtracks selectable and now loop properly. Some songs from the Japnese soundtrack missing lyrics due to copyright issues.
-Unlock Tails once you complete the game once.
-Special Stages re-hauled to be much smoother and actually scale UFOs as opposed as using different sprites for them.

EDIT: Actually, come to think of it, how come there's an achievement for both completing the game and defeating "Robotnik's Final Machine?" In fact, why is the achievement after the achievements to beat the game and to collect all Time Zones.

A lot of games do this.

Then I likely am thinking too much. Though it would be interesting, I would say CD's biggest flaw (besides personal gripes) was the anti-climatic final boss.
