In Topic: Sonic CD now out for everything except Nintendo consoles

Well, I didn't make it into the top 5. I wish I was good at fancy photoshop color tricks, because I'm pretty proud of my layout and line art.

Oh well. -

I know I'm years late on this, but... I'm actually disappointed with Sega for not including Mighty and Ray in Heroes.
Though I couldn't give less a shit about the flying squirrel, I thought, prior to the release of Heroes, that there was an opportune way to fit them into the story.
Think about it:
Since the name of the game was teamwork, imagine Sonic running off ahead of Knuckles and Tails all hubris-like, getting in over his head, being captured, and landing in a cell with the hapless Mighty and Ray. They'd form a makeshift team (you got your speed, strength, and flight right there, dammit), make their escape, new(ish) characters are introduced, and Sonic learns an important lesson about not being too headstrong to rely on others without a lengthy out-of-place monologue. D'awwws all around, amirite? Plus, the hardcore fans get a nod and a wink.
Cheesy as fuck, I know, but I can't help feeling Sega missed an opportunity here. Seemed right up their alley. -
In Topic: What are the three most important aspects of Sonic?
03 March 2010 - 11:13 PM
I'm gonna pretend that we're speaking strictly in terms of a three-dimensional Sonic outing here
1) spin-dash/ buzzsawing through obstacles-
Personally I would love to see moments implemented in a 3d game that simulated Sonic's response to the giant falling rock in the CD intro. If you can't get out of the way, go right the fuck through!
2) free movement across impossible faces-
Not sure exactly how I would handle his speed in my ideal 3D game, but dependent upon his speed Sonic should be able to run across anything in obscene defiance of physics.
3) grandiose exploration-
I envision Sonic's progress throughout a world being limited by his abilities. As these develop, however, it would be really mind blowing to eventually realize that every zone was really a climate change, and that the entire game world was one spherical map that could eventually be completely circumscribed in a matter of minutes at top speed. Speeding across massive bodies of water, running up and down giant ravines, and finding all sorts of secret shit off the necessary path for story completion, etc. -

Decided it was time for a few Tails sketches:
After having her genetic code molecularly tampered with by Robotnik, this little two-tailed fox's cleverness became outright brilliance. Her knack for the construction of machinery is flattered by her tiny opposable thumbs, which allow for the proper handling of even the smallest mechanical parts. Since her canine hind-legs are too frail to support her awkward frame for long, she developed herself a pair of supportive hydraulic shoes that she might imitate Sonic, her idol. -

Tails was ruined as soon as Sega decided he wasn't a girl.
