Yes.

Ayla will of course pay you in the best thing possible - look at all of this money!
But of course!! What else would they be bribing me for?? >_O

Anyway, the contest isn't being neglected in any way as Cinossu is working hard on the contest website. Maybe he'll show some screenshots at some point...
That would be amazing. The hacking contest's website has never looked so good. Cinossu has done a spectacular job!! -

I haven't had time to make update that I've needed to lately and I apologise for that. There have been some updates to the main topic to be made note of.
There was a mistake made and the Big Community trophy should not have been on there. We have removed that from the list of trophies as Big's cross-species relations will NOT be tolerated in this contest. It should also be noted that we've failed to mention our newest judge that I chose to add on this year, SuperEgg. I added him because he's a good friend of mine (aka favouritism), a more than capable hacker at this point, and also because he's a complete asshole which I think that would be entertaining to have present in the judging process.
Here is a copy of his introductory post made on SSRG that he can't make here as he was banned for the excessive use of various racial slurs:

Hi, I'm SuperEgg. Some of you may know me around here as the resident asshole who is judgmental, smartassed, Texan, and has tendencies to orgasm to anything related to Sonic 2 Beta. If you don't know me, pretend you didn't see the description above. Anywho, thanks to my oddball sense of humor and friendship with Ayla, I'm going to be a judge in this year's contest. As far as how I judge, here is a rundown list.
- I will be clear cut and straight to the point. If it sucks, it sucks. I will point out any good points, but I will speak the truth.
- Amaze me. I've had to judge Orchestra Contests to Middle School One Act Plays. The thing that gets me excited is seeing you people do something creative. "Oh, you added in the Homing attack?....Great...." I want to see something new. Hell, I like layout hacks, as long as it is playable, and keeps me wanting more.
- I do not like people ass kissing to me in a pathetic attempt for favoritism. I do not play favorites. If I like your hack, then I do. If anything, ass kissing to get it to win a trophy will do the opposite. Same goes for bribes.
- I do have a sense of humor. Contrary to popular belief, Sonic hacking is NOT serious business. Even though the hacks are supposed to be not "joke" hacks, if it can give me a good smile, or even chuckle, it will definitely be a-ok.
- I love music. Music that sounds audibly pleasing will win some points from me.
- Also contrary to popular belief, I'm a pretty chill guy. I will apologize in advance if my sense of humor offends you, I forget, not everybody knows me.
- I expect 110% of effort from all the participants. Anything less is quite depressing. Even if your hack isn't the best around, I do give points to those who actually show effort. I grew up with a military Dad and Filipino Mother, which means they expected that I put my best effort into anything I do. That is part of my philosophy and part of my judging. I will give credit where credit is due.
Well, that is a rundown list of what I expect and what you can expect from me when it comes to judging. For those wondering what qualifications I have, here's another rundown list.
- I've been hacking asm since 2010.
- I've released two different disassembles since 2010. Sonic 2 Nick Arcade, and Sonic 2 Beta.
- I've worked on a few hacking projects, one of which is currently on SSRG.
- At some point last year, I released a Sonic 2 Beta 3 hoax that successfully tricked about 5 people.
- Musically speaking, I've been in Orchestra since I was in Fifth Grade (10 years old) and I've played guitar since I was about 8. As far as Orchestra goes, I'm classically trained. AKA, I know good music and what's not ear I AM AN UNFUNNY SHITSTAIN.
- I'm an honest person. I won't beat around the bush. It's better to hurt somebody's feelings now, than to hurt somebody's pride later down the road.
- As I said, I've judged four orchestra performances, two or three High School "Battle of The Bands" and two Middle School "One Act" plays.
And with all that said, I bid you ladies and gents a Good Evening.

On that note, I do play favourites and I also accept bribes. Bribes, however, are only accepted in pills of the rave drug, Ecstasy (must be good pills -- not piperazines or speed, molly is also acceptable), or in grammes of mephedrone (MeowMeow). Please PM for shipping details.

Ravenfreak, on 06 January 2013 - 08:11 PM, said:I know I said last year that I was going to enter up my Sonic 2 SMS hack and ended up entering the contest with a shitty retarded hack of Sonic 1.
I've made a resolution for this year and that's to at least finish one of my projects, I think I'll start working on Sonic 2 Remixed and actually enter it in the contest this time around and try to finish it. I haven't hacked any of the 8-bit Sonic games in a while (been preoccupied with Pokemon glitch research and hacking Pocket Monsters Midori lately...) so I think it's time to get off my ass and start working on it again. This contest will be enough motivation for me.
Wherever your heart and interests lie is where your dedication will appear. If you've been doing more with Pokemon hacking lately, you don't need to feel obligated to work on something Sonic related unless your heart is really in it. I've made that mistake myself far too many times and felt it was worth commenting on. -

Knucklez, on 06 January 2013 - 02:15 PM, said:At least let the good ol' community give a hacker some feedback instead of leaving it to a few judges and their biased opinions.
We do. That's what the community trophies are for.

I want to play more hacks. I think I speak for everyone when I say that this community wants to play more hacks. I'm getting tired of all these damn hacks we're slapped with a sloppy screenshot of and never given a chance to play, especially during a time when MD hacking is practically dying.
As for a lot of screenshots and no download, let me be the first to say that a lot of times when someone releases what they have done when they release that first screenshot, they get chewed out for it being incomplete.
I know I did. People loved the screenshots of my hack and I decided to release what I had just for fun.
People were brutal. They complained about collision issues and the game not being finished. No fucking shit it wasn't finished!! It was still in conceptual stages.
I quickly removed the link after this and stopped the project. -
In Topic: Sonic Hacking Contest 2012 RESULTS
13 August 2012 - 04:46 PM
I didn't agree with the results at all, but this is why I enacted the judging platform anyway. The goal was to eliminate my bias and more accurately represent the will of the community through its more knowledgeable members. The ultimate goal when I was running it, was to get an equal amount of "hardcore" gamers and "casual" gamers to create a balanced view of how the community would react. The addition of community voting (finally implemented only AFTER I left) was supposed to further add to this. Any misnomers left in this rating process I have actually had worked out since right before the current contest. These will be implemented for next year's completely different approach to the hacking contest which will be revealed sometime in the coming weeks.
The podcast itself, was a travesty -- I'm certain anyone listening could tell that. My connection and SOTI / Spanner's connection kept giving out and my real life randomly decided to get in the way (for something that should not have mattered to begin with) which ultimately removed me from the call. It was then that SonicKid / Peter & Tobin came in. When SOTI / Spanner finally was able to get a word in, he was nothing short of constantly berated for being himself (implying such things as incapable, being welsh, and just generally being a loser) while he desperately tried to put on a professional podcast for the hacking contest. He was unable to.
Peter and Tobin both, in a skype call, apologised for their actions (as well as the actions of others, which they really didn't need to do) and for ruining our skypecast. The podcast will not be released. I'll need to discuss it with others, but we may redo the contest results with just the contest people.
I just wanted to let everyone know that the people mainly responsible have apologised and that we have not just let this occurrence go unaware. More information regarding this and the next contest will be announced in coming weeks.
