They used 3D for the Sonic2 spring animations. I remember reading that in Gamefan...or was it Gamepro?

I actually started with the Sonic 1 TIGER hand held piece of junk, but holy crap did I love it. And when my neighbor got a Genesis, I was over there everyday to play the real thing.

Then I got a GameGear with Sonic 2. That was really the first first Sonic game I owned. It was a year or two before I got my own Genesis with Sonic 2 included.

    Wall-kick for Sonic? Very yes.
Not only is it a platforming staple these days but it fits Sonic perfectly. Even in Sonic CD's intro movie we see him flipping all over doing parkour stuff like wall kicks. Also it really puts Sonic back ahead of Tails and Knuckles in terms of cool maneuvers.

Yeah, from a game play standpoint Sonic's higher jump set him apart, but aesthetically it really was just a jump. We've got this guy that can fly high, we've got this other guy that punches through walls and can climb walls and glide around...and then we've got this guy that jumps a bit higher...and can flash a little shield for a split second...

    I love the idea.

Goddamned Mick McMahon. Seriously, that man cannot draw.

You make me very sad. Take a look at some of the man's works, it will become apparent that not only can he draw, he's quite versatile with more than a few styles up his sleeve -- in fact he was initially bought onto 2000AD for this very reason; he could produce a reasonable facsimile of Carlos Ezquerra's art (Judge Dredd co-creator), which became necessary when Ezquerra left due to "politics".

I've seen his work in StC though... and it is terrible. Looks like anthtropomorphic blue hedgehogs just aren't one of his many niches. [/geek]

    Funny that
Archie had the same issue with Ron Lim. Dude was a driving force with Marvel comic's cosmic titles like Silver Surfer but GAWD was his Sonic work horrid.

I can understand it being in sonic Chronicles as that was made by westerners, but it is funny to see them not only being mentioned in the manuals but actually in games as well. Definitely an attempt to reach out to its alienated old fan base.
