I prefer the tunes versus the ones with the vocals. To me, the vocals are quite bright and cheery...& somewhat cheesy to me, but tolerable. The credits music is something I listen to over and over on occasion due to the great beat.

I wonder if the soundtrack would have been more accepted if it had the vocals of George Benson or similar sounding styles.

Wow, these concept sketches are amazing.

It looks like the game's intent was for Sonic to save his band members from Robotnik, maybe through 5 levels (1 for each of the 4 members, then a 5th for Robotnik's factory). Each band member trapped in a containment, then released when the boss is defeated.

These concepts definitely reflect well towards Sonic 8-Bit's design. But, why was there a change of direction for the 16-Bit game? And was there little time for the 8-Bit version to follow its 16-Bit counterpart?

There's some Sonic 1 prototype footage starting at 7:09 here from a test show of Nick Arcade, just uploaded on YouTube recently by someone. We get to see the rolling Green Hill Zone ball in action.

I don't know if it's been found out yet, but after listening to the commercial, it seems that when Sonic collects 50 rings, he gets a 1-Up instead of the usual 100 rings. The extra life music plays at that point during the Green Hill Zone run.

Ah, shoot. Nevermind, didn't know that part.
