Posing Sonic Generations models
20 November 2012 - 02:17 PM
I'm sorry if this isn't topic-worthy, but I really need some help with the Sonic Generations models. I'm trying to get the classic Sonic and Tails models from The Models Resource into different poses for a project I'm working on. The part that's been giving me the most trouble is the mouth. I'd like to give them the open-mouthed smile pose, but I can't find any bones or controls to do so. I've tried three different programs so far, all with disappointing results (no bones in Fragmotion, visible but not connected bones in 3D Studio max, and the same type of problems in Blender). Are the models crappy, or do I just not know how to use the programs properly? I'd like to get this project done as soon as I can, so any help anyone might be able to provide would be much appreciated. -
SEGA and Nike team up with a Sonic minigame!
18 May 2012 - 07:28 PM
This is HUGE news, folks! Sonic is in the latest big-budget Nike commercial. See him at the 2:35 mark:
http://www.youtube.c...d&v=QMv8g8CO4cQ
But, if you watch the interactive version of the video on Nike's official Youtube, you can play a hidden Sonic minigame! Once the video loads, drag the bar to about two-thirds of the way through the video. You will see advertisements of the Nike Vapor shoe on the walls of the soccer field. Click 'em to play the game, where Genesis Sonic kicks soccer balls while wearing Nikes and listening to Sonic 4 music. I'm too lazy to take screenshots, so go ahead and see it for yourself! It's actually pretty awesome, in my opinion.
Sonic history fans may remember that Sega had previously attempted a Sonic-related Nike promotion in the past. Knuckles' chest patch was supposed to be the famous Nike swoosh logo, but the deal fell through, leaving Knuckles with more generic markings. Now that Sonic and Nike are making business deals, I think it's fair to say that he's finally back on top of the gaming world again! -
SegaSonic Cosmo Fighter Galaxy Patrol for Sale!!
05 April 2012 - 09:58 PM
Okay, so I've found a rare SegaSonic Cosmo Fighter Galaxy Patrol ride for sale.
Yep, this thing:

The only problem is, it's mega-expensive. $2,434 USD before shipping. But perhaps if everyone bands together and donates a small bit of money, someone who has the means to rip the game ROM can obtain it, rip the ROM, and distribute it for everyone to finally play! There are probably more than 2,434 fans out there who would want to play it, and if each of them donates $1, then it's easy, especially if you would team up with other sites like The Sonic Stadium. I just don't want to see this thing be lost forever. The Sonic community needs it! Thoughts? -
Rouge Concept Art in Speed Highway?
27 August 2011 - 07:55 PM
This is one of the textures from Speed Highway. I think it was used on a sign or billboard.

Nobody knows what it is, so I zoomed into the image to get a closer look. I then noticed that the right half of the image looks an awful lot like a female Sonic character. The pictures on the other half seem to be the same character with slightly different facial poses, like open/closed eyes.

Right now, it kind of looks like Blaze the Cat in a bikini, with a flower on her head.
But maybe the flower's really an ear. I traced a new layer on top of the texture and isolated it.

Now we have a female Sonic character wearing some sort of sleeveless top, gloves, and a ring around her wrists, like Amy. Judging by the coloration of the original texture, this character seems to have a fleshtone muzzle, torso, and possibly arms, dark eyelids, and a light-colored fur on her head. With the large ears and eyeshadow, she looks kind of like Rouge! Could this be a very early version of what would eventually become Rouge the Bat? -
Campaign to get SEGA to port SegaSonic Arcade to the DS
26 August 2011 - 07:01 PM
I'm trying to start a fan-driven campaign to get an official SegaSonic the Hedgehog port for the Nintendo DS consoles. Why? Because this game is so special and important to Sonic history. It was the first to feature voice acting for the characters, and the first appearances for the "forgotten" characters, Mighty the Armadillo and Ray the Flying Squirrel (who hasn't been seen since). It's pretty fun too, which is why it's a shame that so many can't play it. As you may know, Sonic Team actually wanted to include the game in Sonic Gems Collection, but was unable to properly emulate the trackball control scheme. Without a trackball, it's impossible to play properly.
Now, thanks to the Nintendo DS, a virtual trackball can be properly emulated and manipulated on the touchscreen, a technique that has been used successfully in several other DS games, like Looney Toons Galactic Taz Ball, and The Wizard of Oz: Beyond the Yellow Brick Road. Translation of the in-game text would be wonderful, and a replication of the arcade version's multiplayer capabilities via Wi-Fi might also be possible. If ported to the 3DS, even the illusion of depth can be included! The technology is here, and the time couldn't be better as we celebrate Sonic's 20th Anniversary. The inclusion of Ray and Mighty posters in Sonic Generations' City Escape proves that Sonic Team still remembers the game. Whether it's an unlockable in a future Sonic game, part of a compilation, or even a standalone downloadable title, we need to tell SEGA that we want a DS port of SegaSonic the Hedgehog! Because really, who doesn't?
Visit the Facebook page for the campaign here! Don't forget to "like" it, and tell your friends, too! If enough of us speak up, SEGA will listen. Also, feel free to copy my sig picture and use it on other forums with a link to the campaign site.
