Yeah its a shame, The 3 major projects have all gone silent (The Unleashed Project, Melpontroations, Sonic Adventure Generations) and everyone else seems to have canceled their little projects.

JoeTE has been making some cool stuff though, I like his Metal Sonic replacement mod.

Sorry - it's mostly my fault that Melponterations hasn't been a thing for a while. I've just been way too busy making an actual video game to do the level design needed. Running out of money is a great way to force you to get your priorities straight. I really want to make the rest of it once I actually have a reasonable level of financial stability though.

SS, this reminds me, whatever happened to the ↑+↓+↺ t-shirt plan?

There was, sadly, not enough interest for the printing, IIRC. It COULD come back, but we'd need a guarantee we can at least break even on it.

Ah, a shame, but also makes sense, it's a pretty obtuse reference for a shirt. Lemme know if anything happens, I am still proud of the design.

What in the everloving fuck do you expect the game to do here? What do you want it to do?

Are you expecting the game to kill you outright (the "everything becomes a death trap" clause)?
Are you expecting the game to clip you into the wall and just make you fall through it until you die anyway?
Are you expecting the game to let you zip straight to the end and let you skip through the entire level?
I'm expecting it to bounce off my head or push me through it to the top or kill me or literally anything but glitch out horribly.

Is keeping the player in a recoverable (if not odd-looking) situation suddenly a bad thing?

Why does this get so much mockery, but the unleashed engine's flaws get free passes?
If it looks like this, then yeah, it's a bad thing, for taking you out of the experience and messing the game flow up, and because it's undefined behavior. It was simply a stroke of luck that Sonic was able to recover (and for the record, no, it wouldn't require a level restart).

It'd of course be much more forgivable if it was a better game, but since it's not, it's hilarious.

Why is one odd thing an instant "I hate this game" for one game and not others?
Sonic 4: Episode 1 is poor for a huge multitude of reasons beyond this single gif. I posted said gif as a humorous and concise way of illustrating my point that Sega actually did make a retro revival game and it didn't turn out very well.

Can you guys be consistent about anything?
No, because we're not a hive mind and you can't expect every single member of this community to have the same opinions.

    tl;dr: please chill out.

Nintendo has already brought back the original formats for Mario, Kirby, and Donkey Kong updated with modern graphics and sound for consoles, and those did fantastically. If Sega is so hot on following in Nintendo's footsteps, why haven't they followed suit with Sonic?

but, they did. way back in 2010, right when Mario and Mega Man were just starting up that "revival" bandwagon.

    except, it's Sonic, so
