Topics I've Started

  1. Pulseman - Sonic Worlds

    30 March 2012 - 08:43 AM

My knowledge of programing is pretty slim, actually I would say it's more non-existent but I had some spare pixel art lying around and I had an idea for something.

I know the Sonic Worlds engine doesn't get much praise for being an exact replica of the sonic gameplay but how difficult would it be for me to turn this...

(Ignore the metal parts, thats being used for another project so I will have to replace it)

    Into this…

Forget the enemies and the “cyber world” bits and pieces but I just want to try and emulate the style of play and move set.
If things went well I would love to combine the two games by increasing Pulsemans speed and introducing ramps and slopes.
  2. The Younger Generation

    28 January 2010 - 11:03 AM

There has been a lot of talk on this board recently about 'Classic Sonic' what with the announcement of a new Sonic game. With that inevitably comes the backlash of people complaining about the new games, and how the kids of today clearly don't know what they're talking about.

What I'm interested in is how many people on this board have regular interactions with the new Sonic generation (5 - 10?) and therefore actually have justification for their opinions on the matter. Whether its brother, sister, cousin, nephew, niece, etc… And what do you notice about their interaction with the icon that is Sonic, either through games or TV?

NOTE: THIS IS NOT A TOPIC DISCUSSING THE PROs AND CONs OF CERTAIN GAMES

I'll get things started. I have 2 cousins around the age of 6-7ish and both clearly like Sonic.
Both got into Sonic through Unleashed and Rush, and due to visiting their older cousin (Me) they are also well aware of the classic 2D games.
The first out of the 2 will always ask me if he can be a different character, he doesn't care if its shadow in one of the newer games or knuckles in the older ones, he just wants some variety.
The second will prefer to play the 2D games. When I asked why? His response was simply that “they're easier” not that they're better, that includes the newer DS ones as well (which would lead me onto a whole new topic if I had the time, Kids these days may have easier games but its far more difficult for them navigation a 3D environment with 10 or so moves to learn. All we had to learn was left, right and jump).

I do have plenty more observations, just wanted to get the ball rolling.
