There's something I've wondered about however, does anyone know what causes the ending text box to glitch up the background?

This tile deletion doesn't occur with the other cutscene text boxes or in Puyo Puyo and Kirby's Ghost Trap's ending. Would it count as something to put on a bugs list?

I am led to believe that the text box (and profile image box) have a higher priority than the plane they are put in front of. This effect actually happens on the other characters' text boxes and profile images as well. It's just not as obvious.

I do not know for certain, but I believe that the background in these cases is made up of 2 different planes. In the Dr Robotnik screen example, the purple rock background is one plane, whereas the broken machine and flooring are on the other. The text box and profile image are then loaded on top, but with high priority.

I hope this means that the UK will finally have more than just the first 8 episodes of Season 1 available.

As it currently stands, we've only got the first 8 episodes, separated onto 4 individual discs as Volumes, and they still go for about £3 - £5 each. I'd much prefer the Japanese version with English subtitles, but anything is better than what we currently have.

Good news is Sega contacted me regarding this issue, and I've provided them updated builds to solve the problem, so this should hopefully be all be fine in the future.

I'm very happy to hear this. Great job, Taxman. Hopefully it won't take them too long to push these updates, allowing me to play Hidden Palace again.

I love the hearts and they actually work just as I'd expect, so nice one.

As for issues, the background in Spring Yard Zone has the wrong layout, causing mountains to be cut off. (I think this is a result of implementing the Rev 01 code on top of the old Rev 00 one, but I might be wrong).

There's also a strange side effect to the new hammer behaviour that allows you to moonwalk while using the hammer on the ground.

    EDIT: Removed video.

I believe you are correct. The Google Play Store (and subsequently Google Play Services) have indeed been updated recently (It has a new GUI in the Google Play Store), so it does appear to be the case. I've sent another error report, detailing the issue to SEGA through the Google Play Store and we'll see what happens from there. At least we're pretty sure we know the cause, now.
