If we can hack the Autodemo to be able to explore the levels normally, I'm kinda curious if all levels are intact... and if so, whether or not it has the Speed Shoes in Aqua Lake act 2. :P

Yeah, I specifically didn't call it a pilot, because I know that an actual pilot already existed.
I initially thought of it more as something that Sega may have put together to give DiC an idea where to go with their series or something.

According to Wikipedia, both Sonic CD and AoStH came out in the same month -- September of '93.
Hum... well, I guess that puts the timing awfully close together for my theory to work. So I guess unless they had the Metallic Madness song already done before work had started on AoStH, that pretty much debunks it. Shame I hadn't thought of that before posting this. :v:
Though it does make you wonder how uncanny some similarities between the two are, specifically the "Golden Statue Base" and the Grieg music.

To be fair, he is a videogame music composer, and the kickstarter page he mentioned this tidbit on was for his new album. You can't really blame people for still having the topic of music on their mind while reading that update, and as such, coming to that conclusion -- especially considering how he worded it.

Doesn't seem like it, no. The eShop only has the Yoshi and Zelda DLC options. Otherwise I wouldn't have asked. =P
