Random Hack/Mini Project Thread
04 July 2009 - 04:33 PM
Lately I've been making quite a few hacks of Sonic games that are neat but don't quite deserve their own thread, so, after talking to a few people, we decided it may be a good idea to make a random sonic hack thread. If you have any projects that you've been working on that don't quite deserve their own thread, post them here!
Play from EHZ to CPZ, a little concept I wanted to try:

Fly around as Sonic:

Toughest buzz bomber ever:

And my first sonic hack ever, before I knew of asm, made about a year ago:

Also it doesn't matter if your hack isn't bug less, as long as it's playable. Don't comment on bugs unless requested by the poster

Malevolence's Bosses
01 November 2008 - 11:07 PM
Well, today I was pretty bored and decided to experiment with the routine calcsine in sonic 1. In the end I made a new boss, so I thought I'd share it with the good people at Retro. It's not that incredible though, I only spent two hours on it. Here's my neat new custom boss. Tell me what you think of it. Also, it's at GHZ act 3, don't stand in the middle at the end! -
HPZ and WZ
26 October 2008 - 09:41 PM
For the past month or so I have been working on the sonic 2 2007 disassembly to have wood zone and hidden palace zone restored. Now that it's finished, I'd like to release it to the community so everyone gets a chance to hack it. In this disassembly there are several changes. The level select has been modified to include wood zone and hidden palace zone (each with two acts). There are now HPZ and WZ project files for Soned2, and there is a debug list for WZ and HPZ.
Here is a built rom from the disassembly if you would like to test it first.

Hidden Palace Zone with debug.
Here you go!
Credits go to Xenowhirl for his disassembly, qiuu for some level select asm help, nineko for some level select help and FraGag for being awesome and helping with some of my dumb errors.
If there are any suggestions or errors let me know. Have fun! -
Orchestration
17 April 2008 - 03:43 PM
I have recently created a musical piece using Finale2007. The piece is for piano so far, and I want to orchestrate it before I put it in a rom. What instruments do most of the Sonic games use for their MIDI works?
