Christ, this is beautiful. The animations are gloriously detailed, the art is polished, everything looks so visually stunning just for a simple fanmade game. Sonic Robo Blast 2 may have created it's own universe for around it's 15 year life span, but this is complete gold basing it's assets off of a classic. After playing the old demo, I have a lot of faith in this project revival. Hell, you guys could even help me remake my old game if I still had the dedication and money and sketchbook to finish it. -

Sonic Runners is a game that works for what it is, which ISN'T a major Sonic release.
It was made to attract the casual "F2P" crowd and the "superfans", while cashing in on the endless runner genre at the same time. You're almost implying you "gave up" (which doesnt exactly make sense - why are you here if you have supposedly "given up" on the franchise?) on Sonic due to mobile titles (I know you're not), which frankly, is silly.
Just because I gave up on Sonic means I don't enjoy the classics? And isn't this website not only just for new Sonic games? whether if my text fits here or not I'm at least expressing my opinion of how I feel about what's going on with how Sonic rolls today. -

STHX, on 29 December 2014 - 04:22 PM, said:There is a good reason why that poster had a 2015 game on both PS4/One and Wii U: Sonic sells best on Nintendo platforms. Sonic Boom sold bad because 1) it's complete and utter shit and 2) as shown by the likes of DmC, Bionic Commando, Castlevania LoS, Lost Planet 3, RE: Operation Racoon City and many other "reboots", rebooting a series using a different and mediocre developer always ends in failure in the end. Sonic Lost World, despite being mediocre sold 710.000 units between 3DS and Wii U, All-stars Racing Transformed sold the best on Wii U (as of February 2013, I'm pretty sure the pc version with all the exclusive content is now the best selling version) despite being a late launch title of a console with a small install base, Sonic Colours sold 1.850.000 units by december 2010 and 2.180.000 units by March 2011 while in the same timeframe Sonic Generations sold 1.850.000 units despite being on 4 different platforms and obviously having a much higher budget (of course, just like ASR, Generations was on sale multiple times on Steam and I have no doubt it sold better in the end). I mean, Sega is capable of everything and I would not put past them to completely abandon Nintendo but the sales number don't lie, it would be a pretty stupid decision. Sonic Team could easily develop a Wii U game, up-port the same exact game on PS4/One and PC at 60fps/1080p and let dimps shit out the usual handled version (in this way, unlike Unleashed, they don't need to make 2 separate versions). Generations looked great on360/PS4, I don't see how the extra power of the new-gen console could help apart higher resolution, better framerate and faster load times.
Spoiler
I'm still utterly shocked on how terrible Sonic Boom was. I mean former Naughty Dog developers? The people who made two technical groundbreaking IPs (Crash Bandicoot and Jak and Daxter) can't even properly understand the concept of how speed and platforming works. Also, no more Sonic Generations. I'm sorry, I cannot stand that game's controls and anal level design. Even so, what is there to add? You can't add more characters because the game only works around Sonic (and possibly Tails if you're desperate enough to count him too, but that would only work for the classic stages at the best)
Look, I know Sonic is about mixing speed with platforming, but instead of making all of these games where all you do is run in one god damn direction, why can't we take a couple of miles back and try something like Sonic Adventure again?
Yes, I know I'm not the only one who's preached this time and time again, but you have to admit, THIS was where Sega had something going on with the Sonic 3D formula. You can immediately counter argue me before I even say anything with "so why did Sonic 06 happen?", but remember, that game was a trainwreck from the beginning of it's development.... then again, you could argue that Sonic Adventure was a trainwreck from the beginning with Sonic X-Treme and the Sega Saturn altogether, but at the end, we still got a really memorable experience.
What I'm trying to say is that instead of making a game where Sonic does nothing BUT running, why not make a game that focuses on the adventure on getting TO that end goal? Sonic Adventure 1, 2 and Heroes handled this concept the best. I think Sega's stuck in that phase of "We need to show how fast these consoles can process all of these graphics at once", and while that was a cool concept back in Sonic Unleashed, it's being overdone, even on the mobile. We KNOW these consoles are powerful to handle all of graphics at once, just give us a game that utilizes this instead of pretty visuals.
This brings back my point with Sonic Adventure-style gameplay. Instead of just running past stuff, utilize what you have to offer. Sonic Adventure almost got this right.
As for this Sonic Runners game, I'm not looking forward to it at all. It's just another "We're running out of ideas" thing Sega has to offer because you know they have nothing left, right? It's just real disappointing. A WORLD of potential for this character and none of it shown nor probably will never be shown anytime soon. This is why I gave up on Sonic. -

The idea of a foot-racing Sonic game makes too much sense, it's that Sega just didn't know how to properly put this idea into execution.
There's this old MMORPG called Tales Runner, which was an online 8 - 30 player racing game that was so much fun, yet so god damn difficult and took serious dedication to get any enjoyment from it. (That was unfortunately taken down in 2012 I believe, and is only available in Korea and Thailand)
Take a minute and look at this video so you can get the just of it (and hopefully excuse the crappy music)

Wouldn't you like to see this sort of gameplay with Sonic characters? Just using character based skills and high speed to get to the finish? I would think a game like this could spiritually success Sonic R much better than the crappy game we got back then.
