1993 Sega European Grand Prix
01 April 2011 - 11:56 PM
As I was just chatting with Andlabs earlier on the IRC, I was recently watching (just a few hours ago actually) the 1993 Donington Park Grand Prix on YouTube, held as the annual 'European' Grand Prix for the year as a temporary circuit. The race is known for a few things, such as Ayrton Senna making a good drive, and it having radically changing weather, but it was also sponsored by Sega as made clear by the usage of Sonic and the Sega logo plastered all over the circuit. Watching the coverage, there was barely any reference to the blue mascot, nor even Sega, but this is typical of two middle aged men who can't even get people's names right.
Now, blabbing aside (and to make the topic relevant in its subforum), I was just wondering--how important is this event? Considering it's an official event obviously sponsored by Sega to pick up sales for the popular Mega Drive and Master System, it would deserve some sort of mention, surely?
Also related to Formula One and Sega, there is also the Williams team livery of that year to be mentioned, as it's also got Sega branding on it:
Just thought this could spark up some insight—this could just go into something like "Sega branding in motorsport" as something collective, as I've rarely seen them in motorsport at all. That said, some sort of synopsis of the 1993 European Grand Prix couldn't hurt.

So I need your help, Retro
26 October 2010 - 06:26 AM
Some time ago, like, December last year, my graphic card went poof. My card is a nVidia GeForce GTX 400, however, I can only find this out by going to nVidia's site and not dxdiag. Before, there were unnoticable gray lines if I ran in 16-bit (yes, 16-bit
), some months ago these turned green but were only noticable on dark backgrounds, and now these lines are cyan and noticable over everything.
I have no idea as to why this happened and I have no idea on a cheap, free solution. The best solution, obviously, would be to get a new card, but I'd really like my old luxury back of proper 3D gaming.
So... any help?
EDIT: To add to misery, the only resolution I've got is 800x600 after playing Sonic Axiom. Yes, I am serious. -
Playing ripped Atrac3 encoded files from a PSP game?
09 January 2010 - 09:45 AM
I have made AT3 files before with the appropriate codec for various PSX games I've converted to play on my PSP, but I decided to rip an ISO from a game I own (said game is F1 2009, by the way) to get the menu music from it. I had listened to it via IRShell and it's appropriate plugin, though when I ripped the file for use to be converted into Mp3, GoldWave (which I used to make the AT3 files) couldn't read the format. This is confusing me and though it isn't really important, I'd very much like help for it.

Sonic Thrash
23 August 2009 - 02:02 PM
Copy/paste from SSRG first:
So, for the nearly all of this year, I've been working on a hack called Sonic Thrash. Recently, I've been taking videos, and screenshots of it. But that's because I've been doing stuff.
There's quite a bit of history to this hack. It originally started in February, this year (coincidentally, Mobius Adventures started in February last year, but cancelled in September), as a hack to show off my music. But then, I decided to do a little arty stuff, then some layouts and so on. Then, my hack was on it's way to a proper hack, and I had no idea how! Though, the problem came with a name.
I couldn't go with Mobius Adventures, people would moan about "Where's the old stuff", or any name with an 'R'. I thought my hack was trash, so I went to call my disasm folder "Sonic Trash disasm". Unfortunately, I misspelt and somehow went with Thrash. I liked the name, so I stuck with it.
Anyway, what I want to do with this hack.
I want to have atleast 7 zones. With the addition of the less favoured Sky Base Zone, then to Final. Allough, this might take a while.. ^^; But the zones already there, are as follows
Sapphire Hill Zone, Crystal Egg Zone, Waterfall Lake Zone, Crystal Caves Zone, Speedust Factory Zone* and Scrap Brain Zone.
And I've put it into zone order, so you can get a grasp at what zone is based off what.
Oh, I almost forgotten, Screenshots!
I already posted this, but still, I replaced the Sonic Team Presents screen with this. Much better than dull old text, eh?

Title Screen. Try to tell the difference :P
Sonic 2 Level Select, creds toPsyEsrael. Allough, editing the pallete for this is somewhat strange though, the Sonic/Miles text is on the last pallete line :S ; Outdated
..and to the levels!
Second act of Sapphire Hill Zone, and as you can see, there's the giant wrecking ball! :o
I've shown it millions of times, but who cares, Crystal Egg Zone is at night-time, and the ruins are peaceful.. or are they?
Crystal Caves Zone, still need a background pallete. Any suggestions, guys? ; Outdated
And Speedust Factory Zone*, looks great, huh.
And that's it. If you need to drop a comment or something, this is the best place to do it in.
*Speedust Factory Zone - by MarkeyJester
And to the download; Sonic the Hedgehog Thrash - Release #1
Comments/Critisms are appreciated at this time. And no, I didn't enter the contest. -
