  1. In Topic: Sonic Prologue Fan Film

It's just meh for me, and I feel bad because I feel like it deserves more than that.

I will agree that this is WAY better than that Blue Core fan film, because this one actually feels like it was made by fans who care about Sega Sonic and have done their research. However, I honestly think destroying Metal Sonic was the wrong move to make since we see him again in other games, and I'm honestly use to Sonic finding Tails when he is working on his plane. They kind of gave a nod to that, but this was definitely a different take on the origin story. Still, I guess they did the best with what they could.

Seeing the after-credits scene makes me think this was really more like a love letter to Sega for making Sonic, and I think that's what makes this video good. As a valentine or an homage to Sega, this was actually really nice. Plenty of us Sonic fans would love to be able to do something like this.

I'm probably the only one who welcomes a CGI/Live Action Hybrid movie. :colbert:/>

Yes, the infamous fanfilm sucks, but that never swayed me from wanting to see a live action Sonic movie. It's something I've wanted since the Adventure days. And as the cutscenes in the games got better and more detailed, let's face it, the games all ready played out like a good scifi movie or a solid b-movie. And when the textures and character models are as detailed and high def as they are these days, they tend to feel live action all ready. Well... except when they go full cartoony like in Unleashed or Boom.

When I came here to this message board, I was quickly made aware that I'm probably the only one who doesn't mind Sonic being in a more live action setting. And I also cannot stand being around the pessimistic crowd that is afraid of every new thing and only sees the potential for how it could ruin Sonic completely. I'm not saying I'm a completely trusting fool, I know it's better to expect the worst and hope for/be pleasantly surprised at the best. I just put more emphasis on the "hoping for the best" part rather than just automatically assuming all is lost.

Sonic may be in the lead, but based on the footage, they are all running at the same speed. None of the other characters are falling behind or having trouble keeping up. They may be in different positions, but they are all maintaining THE EXACT SAME SPEED. Yeah, thanks for taking away the one thing that made Sonic unique...
I tend to give Heroes a little bit of leeway with this. At least characters only traveled in groups of three, and most of the time it was believable that they were all in the same range of speed. But I'd think, with as much progress as game engines and technology have made, they could make it look like the other characters are realistically having a hard time keeping up with Sonic.

Also, is it just me, or do these enemy drones look more like something you might see in AoStH? Even Burnbot looked a little like that... Thanks for reviving that? Wow, this really is turning into a hipster Sonic.
    Snooping as usual.

Speaking of old school cartoons, I see a lot of people saying how this just doesn't feel like a Sonic game. Kind of reminds me of that SatAM game that never got released. I guess too much strategy can lessen a Sonic game...

I guess that just leaves my final question... Is Sonic Boom really made for Western Audiences or are they just trying something new? There is a difference, and honestly, I hate when ANY company does the former. 4Kids thought they needed to "westernize" anime, and look where it got them. Sonic never needed to be westernized before. He seemed to have plenty of appeal and popularity so far. I guess giving him a scarf, sports tape, and a sitcom is going to make all the difference? Makes sense to me! :specialed: I sure am glad this won't affect or replace the main Sonic canon.

Despite Sticks looking a little ORIGINAL THE CHARACTER on us, and I shiver just saying that, I'm fine with this. She sounds charming to me. The voice is... yeah... But she has a personality that really shines through. And apparently, the creative staff have been watching too much Atop The 4th Wall. Posted Image

Honestly, that voice kind of reminds me of Elmyra from Tiny Toons.
