Dreamcast Collection for Steam is finally being sorted out
01 August 2014 - 05:27 AM
In a move literally no one was expecting, SEGA has announced on the Steam community forum that they're working on fixing up the wreck that is Dreamcast Collection. At first when I seen an update for Crazy Taxi I thought it was to tie into the mobile game, but Sonic DX, Space Channel 5 and SEGA Bass Fishing have also received updates. Here's the announcement:

Hi all,
You may have noticed some new things crop up in our existing Dreamcast collection on Steam, such as achievements. Currently this content isn't accessible but it's part of an initiative from SEGA over the next few months which is going to improve the player experience for these titles. We don't have an exact date for these improvements just yet but please bear with us, we'll keep you posted with more information just as soon as we're able to.
Thanks for your patience.
SEGA
I'm seeing achievement listings pop up for these games but so far I'm not noticing anything apart from the fact that they've changed the price. Hopefully "improving the player experience" means HD resolutions, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Concept Art and other documents from 90's Sonic Cartoons
25 June 2014 - 01:23 PM
You may have read an article on TSS the other day highlighting the discovery of new concept art from the development of SatAM. If not, basically what's going on is someone is selling concept art, planning sheets and original animation cells from the three DIC Sonic cartoons (AoSTH, Underground, SatAM) on ebay. This has lead to the uncovering of gems such as this and cataloging them is imperative. They're on sale after all, so they'll disappear after a while.
I've added the sheets found by TSS to the Wiki (There's already a page for the SatAM ones), but there's a lot more out there and it would be a shame if they were lost to private collectors. I'm calling you guys to check ebay regularly for more items like this as they'll only appear once. If you want to take a step further, buy the sheet and scan it so we've got a nice high quality image for the wiki!
In addition, there are even more animation cells from AoSTH than anything else floating around on ebay and I was wondering whether it would be worth cataloging them too, though they're effectively screenshots from the show. What do you think?

I'm not going to post a link to the seller, but rest assured, they're pretty easy to find if you search for "Sonic Animation", as suggested in the TSS article. These documents are one of a kind and offer a unique insight into the development of the old Sonic cartoons. I at least got a good kick out of the designs for Robotnik!
I've just realised this is my last post as a trial member. I thought I'd make it count!
