Protip: Sound effects can be hard to find alone, but a complete rip is actually pretty easy to find.

Anyway, Here ya go. Right click and save as. I'll keep this link alive for a few days or so.

    That's brilliant! Many thanks :)

Playing Sonic Adventure 2 on a Dreamcast demo unit at my local 'Wacky Warehouse' in 2000/2001. Later that year, I got a Nintendo Gamecube with Sonic Adventure 2: Battle.

Hence, it's probably easier for Sega to just distance themselves from Sonic 3, as if they start swapping out the music, it will look like they knew that they had to pay the MJ estate royalties and were purposely avoiding it.
But they already did that, in Sonic & Knuckles Collection...

They also practically recreated the game in Sonic Jam as well as tweaking around with the levels a bit. I'd imagine that it wasn't simply a case of 'public knowledge' - but whatever happened with MJ and Sega must have had a profound effect on the company, so much so that they'd distance themselves from arguably one of the greatest Sonic games in existence.

In regards of a Sonic 3 (&K) remastered, I don't think it'll be happening anytime soon, unless the issue with the music was sorted. The only solution I can think of that would appease all sides would be similar to the Sonic 3 and Knuckles PC release which would have MJ's tracks replaced with newly composed ones. If Sonic 3 remastered were to be considered, they wouldn't even have to compose new tracks, just convert the ones used for the PC version into a 16-bit Genesis-like sound. I believe they are all MIDI based anyway which makes the task even easier.

I've even found some Genesis remakes on YouTube
