It has the foundations of a neat game, but Runners is ruined by so much crap (bullshit level design that's often difficult to see coming, the F2P aspects, etc). And that's on top of the technical issues. I have had my runs ruined and invalidated by stuttering and fucking crashes. I'm on iOS, by the way, and generally, from my understanding, the mostly likely cause is that the game is exceeding its RAM budget.
Good grief, Sonic Team, way to go back to your days of technical incompetence. -

He also got into a Twitter fight with Dan Slott (Marvel writer, best known for post-OMD Spider-Man, especially Superior Spider-Man, which he completely botched) of all people over how appropriate it would be to change Luke Cage's ethnicity in an adaptation. Naturally, Penders took the 'what's the problem with making him white' position, while Slott pretty much disagreed for all the wrong reasons, really. -

Classic Penders terribad artwork. I think he's actually getting worse.
Oh, and a certain someone's tail isn't even shaded properly. And that's not even the worst of the countless obvious problems with this disaster. Including possible plagarism, because I'm pretty sure that Knuckles art is directly copied from an Archie comic, and likely not art he even drew previously. -

Okay, I took a look at this and it's even rougher than the MMF2 version of Sonic Worlds. I wouldn't even know where to start, sorry if I had anyone's hopes up.
I do, however, have a few ideas on how to replicate Sonic-style movement using other means. I'll do some tests and get back to you.
You're better off doing that, yeah. I have tried using custom movement to do it, it didn't work properly for some reason. My Worlds porting attempt is hideously unoptimized anyway, and we need something more efficient that can actually run well with multiple players if required.
