Topics I've Started

  1. Everything's going wrong with videos!

    07 July 2015 - 03:21 PM

So, I just joined an LP group, and I recorded Mega Man 1 for them. I used the Wily Wars version running on Kega Fusion from my PC just to do something different, and the whole LP is recorded. I know Kega uses a special video codec that VLC can't do anything about, so I downloaded Microsoft Expression Encoder to convert the AVI to a WMV (because it's a free version and can't convert to anything else). Doesn't look as good, but at least it plays now. Once that file was done, I brought it to my dad to convert to a different video file that iMovie could open because the Mac is the only computer I can use with video editing software. However, his conversion only changed the wrapper, and iMovie still can't open it.

So, I come back to the PC and use VLC to convert the WMV to a different format from here (I didn't do it in the first place because I have bad experiences transcoding videos with VLC, turns out that's just the Mac version), and I can make it an MP4. Except, for some reason, the MP4 it creates doesn't have audio. The audio checkbox was checked in the converting window, but there's still nothing.

And now, I have no idea what to do. What's the simplest way to convert the AVI file Kega makes into something workable in iMovie?
  2. Getting controller to work in Sonic Adventure DX

    10 July 2013 - 06:08 PM

So, I got Sonic Adventure DX on Steam, and I was waiting for my Classic Controller to USB adapter to arrive before playing it. So I launch the configuration app, and it says it can't find a controller. Alright, so it can only recognize 360 controllers then, it's a common problem with PC games, so I download x360ce to make the computer think I'm using a 360 controller. The setup utility runs fine, and I move the configuration files into the Adventure DX directory. Still can't find the controller. I renamed the xinput1_3.dll file it made to xinput_9_1_0.dll, a suggestion I read online. Can't find a controller. So I try running x360ce in the Adventure DX directory, and it gives me an error message "Unhandled exception has occured". So I've just given up and am asking for help now.
  3. Blurry Gamecube

    11 June 2013 - 08:49 PM

So, after years of playing Gamecube games on the Wii, and months of having to reach behind the TV to switch cables from the Wii U to the Wii to play them, I finally picked up a Gamecube and moved the Wii out of my living room. Running some tests on it, I noticed the picture seems blurry. Mega Man X in particular, I remember looking much crisper running from the Wii. After doing some research and finding that the Wii does not upscale Gamecube games, I want to figure out why it's blurry now. It's an SDTV running from a composite cable.
  4. Should Crush 40 Return for Sonic Lost World?

    30 May 2013 - 08:50 PM

I know that Sonic's going in a new direction and all that, but I'd still really like to hear Crush 40 again. I like Endless Possibilities and Reach for the Stars just fine, but it doesn't even compare to Live and Learn or Knight of the Wind.
  5. Rockman X7

    14 August 2012 - 12:54 PM

So I just got my copy of Rockman X7 in the mail. For the uninitiated, the PC version was only released in Korea. So I get the game, put the disc in, and it gives me this window.

The first option seems to be install. The second, I assume is uninstall or something. The third is install DirectX 8.1, and the fourth seems to be exit. So I click the first button to install the game, and after running an installer for a few seconds, I get this message, which I assume is an error message.

And nothing else happens. Anyone know what to do?
