Topics I've Started

  1. British mag Sonic 1 preview, etc. scans

    06 October 2009 - 01:25 AM

Hello. I've spent the last three days going through scans of British gaming mags for my own research, but while I was at it I ripped most of the Sonic-related stuff (as in, content that was taken from prototypes) for you guys.

I'm guessing most if not all of these are "old," but just in case I've put up a Flickr set here:

    http://www.flickr.com/photos/lostlevels/se...57622394480477/

There is one preview each from Mean Machines and CVG (probably using the same cartridge), a two-page ad with prototype shots, and a comic book I hadn't read before. I hope you guys find something useful in there.
  2. New Sonic the Hedgehog Retrospective

    18 February 2009 - 05:14 PM

Hi all. My company just released a Sonic the Hedgehog retrospective on YouTube about, oh...five minutes ago. This is the real deal, and includes interviews with the following people:

    Naoto Ohshima
    Yuji Naka
    Hirokazu Yasuhara
    Shinobu Toyoda
    Madeline Schroeder
    Al Nilsen
    Roger Hector
    Takashi Yuda
    Akinori Nishiyama
    Yuji Uekawa
    Takashi Iizuka

I'm posting it here first because I'm excited to see how you guys pick it apart. I'd like to know what information is new, if any of the concept art in the video was previously unseen, etc. I'd also like to hear your opinions, so let's hear them! The video has a few little rough spots for Sonic nerds like us (like the "footage" used for X-Treme), but all in all, I think this turned out as good as I could have ever hoped for.

  3. Sonic X-Treme Found!

    13 September 2005 - 01:32 AM

Rather than explain all this crap again, I'll just link to the "for sale" thread:

    http://www.assembler...read.php?t=6648

Basically, an EXTREMELY anonymous former Sega employee contacted me, based on the Sonic X-Treme article I published at Lost Levels, and asked me to help him sell a Sonic X-Treme disc he managed to take home. It's NOT a full game. In fact, there's not much "game" here at all, it's just the proof of concept shown at Gamer's Day in 1996. But it's real, and it's certainly the only disc I've seen.

Anyway, like I said, check out that thread for more. I'm not trying to barter it off to you guys, I just wanted to make sure the legit Sonic fans were aware of this.
